We can leave this one for the fringe right and left. I'd like to check out political threads from normal people.

So you want a safe space with no strong opinions that may upset you?

Moderation is boring.

Ever read a book about great moderates of history?

Moderation debates start with 3 paragraphs of sympathy for the argument one disagrees with. Then the one paragraph of argument is followed with 5 urging the reader not to be offended.

Start a moderate political board, and it either accepts the polarizing elements or dies in obscurity.

Quite a fringy response. You will not be welcome on the new board. You're on the list.

Moderation fixes things. Polarization disrupts things.

I get it, but I do think civil discourse and learning is possible on a message board.

It was.........before the Trump election this place was fewer threads which were longer. Instead of:

"ZOMG CHECK TRUMPZ TWEET PWNING LIBZ!" 35 times a day mixed with about 25 Trumpkin upvote whoring threads consisting only of "Look how much I love Trump, upvote me please!".

As long as we all know this board is for entertainment purposes only.

I certainly hope nobody takes this place seriously. I wonder why people on here argue all the time about all the same things day in and day out. There is no purpose to it other than to just be ridiculous to relieve stress or something.

Hope nobody is naive enough to think this board matters one iota.

So you can't articulate your ideas? There are fringe elements in ALL political discourse. What's fringe and isn't is also rather subjective.

There are also lots of people who lack political conviction who believe anyone who isn't as open to being swayed as them are "fringe" or close minded. If you can't explain what you mean then it makes your opinion pretty worthless as it can't be properly scrutinized. I'd rather a fringe character I disagree with who can openly carry on a discussion than people like you who make vague complaints and can't clarify their viewpoint.

I don't think it's moderate viewpoints you're after, but rather pragmatic ones. I don't see much pragmatism on this board, I see tribalism.

I sort of view them as the same. Strong political bias usually does away with pragmatism. Moderates should be able to think realistically without all that crazy political hate.

You know exactly what I mean by "fringe". Especially if you've blessed the pages of this board with your presence.

I actually don't because it's so subjective. If you're familiar with "fringe" political views then you know definitions and parameters can be wildly different.

In 2016, many viewed Trump supporters in general as "fringe." Obviously not so.

If we're talking about Alex Jones type conspiracy theorists and Antifa/SJW kooks, then that's another thing.

Moderation fixed the Axis of WW II?

Trump’s moderate talk compelled Kim to the table?

Moderation only fixes moderate problems among moderates. And that’s only moderately important and interesting!

Apparently the TD Administration also finds moderation boring!
They won’t allow a reply to cycle it to page one.
