Also: if Milley resigns in their sick arrogant fricked-up minds. Afghanistan goes away.

I think there is a reason that the democrat committee that called Austin to testify on Afghanistan didn't happen.

Austin no-showed because Milley is going to take the heat and resign to the civilian MIC or a lobbyist cushy position?

Here is what we do know about the author

1. He fabricated quotes
2. He fabricated stories about Belushi
3. He fabricated a deathbed interview with Casey
4. He manipulated words and strong-armed his editor to leave it that way

I want to see a copy of the transcript in front of Congress not something that sources say is there before I give credence to Woodward

I want also would like Milley to get his butt hauled in front of Congress and have it out in the open like Iran-Contra.

Behind the scenes: In mid-October 2020, top Pentagon officials grew concerned about intelligence they'd seen. It showed the Chinese were consuming their own intelligence that had made them concerned about the possibility of a surprise U.S. strike against China, three sources familiar with the situation tell Axios.

One of the sources said: "I think they [the Chinese] were getting bad intelligence... a combination of 'wag the dog' conspiracy thinking and bad intel from bad sources."

Then-Defense Secretary Mark Esper worried the Chinese were misreading the situation and that their misperception could lead to a conflict nobody wanted.

Esper directed his policy office to issue a backchannel message to the Chinese to reassure them the U.S. had no intention of seeking a military confrontation. The message: Don't over-read what you're seeing in Washington; we have no intention to attack; and let's keep lines of communication open.

These backchannel communications were handled a couple of levels below Esper, one of the sources said. U.S. officials involved thought the Chinese received the initial message well. Milley followed up later in the month with a call to his Chinese counterpart to reiterate the message, two of the sources confirmed.

It's unclear whether anyone at the Pentagon told President Trump or the White House what they were doing.

What's next: Those wishful plans for Milley's hearing are out the window. Questioning during the Sept. 28 hearing will likely focus more on the chairman's behind-the-scenes actions during the final days of Trump.

Members also are gunning for Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin over his handling of Afghanistan.

As Axios' Zachary Basu reported Tuesday, Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) took the extraordinary step of threatening to subpoena Austin and other Biden officials who decline to voluntarily appear before the committee. LINK

Milley Undermined Trump, Pentagon Officials on Afghanistan- Monday, 17 May 2021 12:31 PM

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley was reportedly caught on classified intercepts undermining then-President Donald Trump and the Pentagon's civilian leadership as they worked to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan in the waning days of the administration.

Trump administration officials reviewed classified National Security Agency communications that led them to believe Milley was undercutting the president and Defense Department leaders, Axios reported, according to three sources with firsthand knowledge of the documents.

Milley's alleged subversion came because he and other top generals reportedly did not agree with Trump's plans to drastically reduce or completely withdraw troops from Afghanistan. The intercepts included a conversation between a senior Afghan official and an American who had spoken to Milley, with the American saying he was told the Joint Chiefs chairman had no confidence in the civilian Pentagon leadership, Axios reported. The DOD was led at the time by Acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller and chief of staff Kash Patel, among others.

In another intercept, Afghan officials were alleged to have understood that the top U.S. generals planned to defy the president's order for a fast troop drawdown and would, at best, slowly respond to Trump's instructions in hopes of delaying and hopefully stopping the pullout.

The intercepts prompted conversations among senior Trump officials about the potential undercutting of civilian control of the military. However, the chaotic final days of the administration overshadowed the serious issue.

For one thing, Axios reported there was a general lack of interest among Trump’s staff in being the one who would take the intercepts to the president "because you didn't want to get sucked into some weird scandal and be testifying," a source told the outlet.

Axios reported Trump aide John McEntee, with the president's blessing, told retired Army Col. Douglas Macgregor on Nov. 9, 2020, that his job was to get U.S. troops out of Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and Africa, and to complete the troop withdrawal from Germany. McGregor was given the mission just moments after he'd been offered the position of adviser to Miller.

General Milley has attempted to rationalize his reckless behavior by arguing that what he perceived as the military’s judgement as more stable than its civilian commander,” wrote Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio in a letter to President Joe Biden demanding Milley be fired .

To me more focus should be placed on the fact that he was coordinating with an enemy of the United States. The flip side of Rubio’s argument would be that the military’s judgement is less stable than Chairman China Joe Biden. Very dangerous when CJB orders the military to go door to door taking kids and firearms.

And who TF honestly believed Trump was going to start a Nuke War with China in January? Give me a fricking break. Thats completely made up!

Nancy likely planted seeds of sedition and treason, and Milley, being a weak-brained Trump hater, took the bait and ran with it.

He needs to be court-martialed. If any of you have paid attention to my posts in the past, you might know that I work in areas of national security and defense, primarily around nuclear defense, threat assessment, targeting systems and SOF's. The technology I deal with crosses over into space exploration and I work with NASA and several well known space contractors on the Artemis program. One of my co-workers is a former spook, special operations snake-eater, NSA guy who served under Reagan. Very old school, hard-core military guy. He should be retired, but he sticks around because we pay him well and he has hooks everywhere in the military, just last week having dinner with retired Gen. Goldfein, who was Chief of Staff of the USAF and a former member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to both Obama and Trump. So, I'm qualifying this guy to you as someone very connected to the military.

And he is VERY liberal and so we have some very lively conversations on opposing sides of many issues. Always respectful of our friendship, but rarely does he come to a debate on an issue unprepared and uninformed. We both have changed each other's minds on numerous issues, as he is highly intelligent and not a screaming out-of-his-mind type prone to cutting off debate or calling everyone who disagrees with him a Nazi. No, he's just a liberal, not a socialist or communist.

Last evening I asked him his opinion about this export on Milley. His response:

quote:

"If true, Milley SHOULD be stripped of rank and tried in court-martial. Treasonous? Maybe, but more likely he'd be charged with Dereliction of Duty and stripped of all pay and receive an dishonorable discharge, at worst. Most likely outcome, to avoid any investigation that might lead to outside influence, politics may dictate he gets asked to retire to avoid a scandal. That's my take on it. If a lot of heat comes down from the joint chiefs, or Republicans take the House and want stir the pot, this could get very messy."

Take it for what it's worth, but this guy opposed everything about Trump and is military through and through. I mean, his office at home literally has the look of the situation room at the Whitehouse when I join him in a video conference. And he thinks Milley is done and should be tried by a military court if the excerpts from the Washington Post story are true. But his pragmatism says it gets whitewashed.

The military brings a reason to use nuclear weapons to the president. The president can’t unilaterally order a nuclear strike without a LOT of buy in from all.

So where was his subversion when Biden actually (I bold this because obviously Trump did NOT withdraw all troops) did this and stranded thousands of Americans?

This is why I have been calling Milley a derelict; and it is so obvious they will want this swept under the rug quickly.

With Milley's resignation will be all Afghanistan talk, committees, hearings, ended. It is why Austin is pretending to be so busy and can't come in to testify.

Did you see this? LINK

Milley committed a bunch of articles in the UCMJ right as Trump was leaving office.

Nothing was ever said no disciplinary action.

This is well-beyond politics of the left thinking Milley is a hero because OMB.

If Milley is allowed to get away with this we are done. Add in all of the other govt agencies and now add in the Pentagon.

It is a win for China. Even your friend didn't seem too think that Milley telling China he would warn them if we were attacking them was a bad thing---it didn't seem to phase him.

California Democrat Ted Lieu was also among those criticising Gen Milley on Tuesday, and wrote on Twitter: “The fate of the world should not depend on a single general, in this case Mark Milley, trying to stop a President who is unstable.”

“That’s why we need to pass my bill with senator Ed Markey that requires POTUS to get congressional authorisation before launching a nuclear first strike”.

Ironically I think the poster meant reform as in the way the football is handled. See my post that the dem Ted Lieu posted. They want Congressional approval for a nuke strike.

This is plain stupid. It would require them to be like the military on call in 24 hour rotations to all meet. And I wouldn't trust Congress to run a a lemon aide stand.
