AB 1228 applies to fast-food chains with at least 60 locations nationwide — except for those that make and sell their own bread.

Chick Fil A makes their own biscuits for their breakfast service. I wonder if this would allow them to be exempt.

So the bill rewards restaurants that buy processed food and their workers just pick it up and put in oven?

Brilliant. Its ok to pay those who make their own bread less?

Asked the mgr & he said this was the ultimate goal for 2025 at the latest, state-wide. Said one of his friends was a long time mgr at a Wendy's there & Wendy's 2 year plan was similar.

This has always been the goal but it wasn’t cost effective to make that investment until the Dems started agitating for “living wages” for fast food people.

I’d much rather the Wendy’s near me have two employees and a bunch of robots because then maybe they could have two who were fricking competent instead of a bunch of lazy assholes.

Newsome and the like are pricing workers out of the market place, rather than helping them obtain competitive skills. It’s cruel.
Yes, it’s cruel and sadly, exactly according to plan.

You must think it's 2005 forever. $20 is not a lot of money, especially in California

Robots will probably do a better job and then you only have to deal with the guy that works on the robots...

But robots don't have tattoos up and now their arms and neck. Nor do they wear nose rings, like a bull.

My favorite part of this is the crowd surrounding Newsome doesn't understand that fast food restaurants will replace all of them with kiosks to order food. The upfront costs of buying and installing the kiosk will pay for itself in a year.

The same thing happened when the feds mandated that companies who employ a certain amount of full time workers have to offer them health care.
Many companies simply hired more part time workers, cut hours or kept their companies size right below the mandatory limit.

I sold my businesses and my interest in two others during Obama's second term... I was tired of using my money to create jobs and pay taxes to a government that looked at me as an "evil rich man" and people that think they are owed a job.

The franchise idea was and is an amazing way to develop wealth and do a good job for your community.

It is amazing to watch the government try to ruin this.

Interestingly there are a large number of minority owned franchise businesses that are going to be affected by this
