The heading could be "how stupid are these people?"
Electric heat, hot water and cooking is 4 or 5 times more expensive than natural gas. It is also the cleaner than any other source except nuclear.

They want control over your energy, and shutting down the power plant is easier than controlling the pipeline and gas/oil companies.

We have a 2 family rental property in NYC. It is just under 3,000 sq. ft. and uses natural gas for heat, hot water and cooking. In the dead of winter, the gas bill runs between $400 to $500 per month.
An old friend has a 600 or so sq ft condo that has electric heat and it costs her $600 or more. The condo provides hot water and she has gas for cooking. She doesn't keep it toasty warm either.
Going all electric is insanely expensive in NYC and Calif.

California is a testing ground for the rest of the US for the Left. Many will regret giving them power but to be honest I couldn’t care less. The US will get what it deserves and I am pretty isolated from those inevitable consequences

1) electrical infrastructure is already taxed and becoming insufficient (we are not building enough electricity production facilities to keep up with growth. this incudes NG, coal, wind, hydro, solar, nuke)
2) majority of our electricity come from NG, so killing NG at the point of use, will push more use are the origin, and worse, push to more coal or older, less efficient NG plants to kick it to pick up the load.
3) transmission losses, transformer losses from power distribution is less efficient then NG distribution losses.
4) electrical point of use water heaters are limited by residential infrastructure. a 100k BTU gas instantons WH needs about 30kW to have the same GPM output. (120 amps at 240v) most houses dont have an electrical panel to support that. so most will go tank type to give more storage with less recovery.
5) the US is a net exporter of NG. we have an abundance so less risk to geopolitical issues with supply

We have more natural gas than we know what to downright in this country and it’s cleaner and cheaper than anything else we currently use for power.
