I'm ok with this, but for different reasons. Anyone who dodged the draft doesn't deserve to be glorified.

Pretty sure John Wayne only married and had kids with hispanic women so I don't know how he can be that racist.

Terrible movies really.
Volunteering for R.A. at Kirby-Smith dorm, I happened to draw "double feature" duty for the weekly movie night. Two John Wayne westerns.

Growing up, I never got into westerns, never watched them, so this sounded like four hours of torture for me.

The first movie was True Grit. I thoroughly enjoyed it. That was followed by Rooster Cogburn. By the time that ended, I knew why John Wayne was a legend. Two great movies.

Who cares?

John Wayne will not be remembered for a dumb airport.

He is the duke.

Remember these are the same people trying to tear down statues paid for by freed slaves (Emancipation Memorial).

If white folks haven’t drawn a line in the sand to defend the “Duke” it’s fricking over!

John Wayne did a shite ton of good for California and Californians.

Iowa born, he had a pretty enlightened view of race relations and equality of opportunity for someone born in 1907.

So, as long as we're going to hold everyone to that same standard, let's start pulling them all down. No statues of humans. No human is perfect. Imperfection is offensive to me.

I’m surprised it took them this long. I would’ve thought he’d have been among the first up.

frick ‘em. I have an extensive collection of his movies. They can’t do shite about that. I’ll continue to honor The Duke’s memory.
