But what the administration officials pitched during a call with reporters as “the most comprehensive” drug price plan in presidential history will stop short of radically overhauling the health care system by allowing Medicare to directly negotiate with drug makers — a step that Trump once endorsed on the campaign trail but later backed off.

“We are talking about something different,” one senior administration official said. “We’re not calling for Medicare negotiation in the way Democrats have called for.”

Is there some sort of "bombshell" threshold that has to be crossed when posting a story that you don't agree with?

However, the reform does not go as far as giving Medicare the power to negotiate directly with drug makers to get a lower price.

This isn't even a story clown.

It is fake news trying to spin a single sentence out of context, prematurely, to show a "broken promise" by President Trump. This is clearly an orchestrated effort, considering that Trump's rally last night had "Promises Made, Promises Kept" prominently displayed. Media can't have that, so let's attack every single "promise."

It isn't a story when he changes positions on something important?

It is fake news

How is it fake? He held one position previously. He holds a different position now.

Are the words "broken promise" the reason why you're getting so worked up?

Now how about some video of the chants at Trump Rallies

"Negotiate that drug!"

Im pretty sure their were lots of suggestions during the campaign and Trump IS obviously working on the issue, you people have zero fricking credibility to criticize ANYTHING Trump because you criticize everything Trump...

FEBRUARY 7, 2017

President Donald Trump supports the government negotiating directly with drug companies on prices for drugs covered by the Medicare insurance program, the White House said on Tuesday.

“He’s for it,” White House spokesman Sean Spicer said, when asked at a briefing whether Trump still supports negotiating drug prices for the healthcare program.

Jan. 26, 2016,

Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders have reached a major point of agreement when it comes to health care: If elected president, all three say they would seek to allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices.

"We don't do it. Why? Because of the drug companies," [Trump] said.
