Why are you asking so many questions of a process you've proven you do not understand?
Do you think explaining it all again will make a difference?
You can google this just like anyone can, sport
I'm not your personal researcher.

Yep, on our end I remember when we were paying .17 -.22 cents a pound for structural, in the mid 2000s it was around .70 cents a pound.

You obviously elude the importance of the issue and continue to promote confabulation.
Good day Sir.

So these mini mills, they are capable of producing enough steel to build ships, tanks, etc?
The mill where I worked, produced about 300 tons per hour.

They can create anything the blast furnaces create.
The same capacity?

Depends on the size of the furnace. Thats your limitation.
So yes they can.

So, given that, are the British now limited?

I was watching a blacksmith youtube video and the guy visited a big foundry in England. It was powered by electricity, not coal, gas or oil. Electricity.
Apparently they're not familiar with thermodynamics across the pond.

Tata will be able to take up the slack I think.

Not sure.
If they are, they can throw up a few more Electric arc furnaces. Much easier to deal with than blast furnaces.
quote:
The Electric arc furnace is smaller and more efficient. They do not require a constant coke supply; instead, they use electricity carried through graphite electrodes to create an arc. The metal used with an Electric arc furnace is usually scrap steel. Managing the temperature within the system is easier than a blast furnace, making it more efficient. Another benefit of using the EAF process is that all types of steel can be created.
