This is interesting, basically saying it will be up to the states to decide and the fed government has no dog in this hunt.
California Prop 8 was overturned in court, disenfranchised over 7,000,000 Californians that voted, legally to amend their constitution to define marriage as 1 man and 1 woman. 2008ish I believe. Right about the time the country was still transitioning from normal to Obamas disaster.

i have been pro life as long as i've understood the concept. i have been fairly unwavering in that and only strengthened as i've aged.
i was pro-death penalty and pro-drug laws until my late 30s. Death penalty and drug laws aren't hills i'm going to die on, but i take a much more libertarian view of both now.
people can change on those.
I thought Trump was full of shite in his campaign on abortion issues, but just about everything he did pointed to that being sincere. he could still be full of shite and pandering, but he did nothing but disprove that concept.
This pretty much describes me. Even in my most intellectually experimental days of college, I could never stray from my position on abortion. I think the farthest I've strayed was when I started using the slogan, "I'm just barely pro-life." That really was just a way of saying I understood all of the tough issues involved, all the way down to a fraction of a second before embryonic implantation in and attachment to the uterine wall.
In other words, it really is a close call and we should be focused on helping women and unwanted babies and families generally and all the root causes that lead to abortion on demand. However, there is no other rational or scientific or non-arbitrary point that makes any sense to call it a life. You have genetic material that is now distinct from either parent, and without an act of violence (no matter how sterile or clinical), that material will remain a human life on the other side of the womb.
The idea that the fraction of a centimeter of vaginal flesh is what determines human life --or some arbitrary point between implantation and birth-- is base, barbaric and unscientific.
To put it crudely, it's a "game" of millimeters and microseconds either way. But one is based on science and human dignity. The other on an ages-old distortion of all reality and man's place in the cosmos. The latest manifestation in so-called feminism is nothing new. Just a symptom of a timeless disease.
And I agree with the posters who've said that abortion itself (including legal and social normalization) perpetuates the issues that lead to more abortions.
I need more drugs (caffeine) before I can address drugs and capital punishment. I have no moral or ethical issue with capital punishment or making drugs illegal, in theory. I just don't think our system and society are set up in such a way that either works so I'm fine with legalizing all drugs and locking people who give or sell drugs to minors up in a coffin and keeping them alive.

Shitlibs are obsessed with their baby-sacrificing satanic cult. And hating Trump.

The people who would say that clump of cells that just attached to the uterine wall is NOT life, would jump for you shouting "we found life" if those same cells were found on Mars.
