A lot of people change their views on various topics when confronted with the facts of a matter. It's a sign of an active mind and the humility to change your stance when you discover you were previously in error. If we held everyone to the same standard of "you didn't believe that way before, so you're not allowed to believe that way now" we would never progress as individuals or as a species. Furthermore, there would be no point in presenting an argument in the attempt to change a person's mind.
Trump has been in front of the American camera and in the public eye since I began college in 1986. Over those 35+ years his views on many things have matured and changed as he became aware of the facts surrounding many of those issues. I can accept that he is genuine in his statements regarding this topic.
On the flip side, Jane Fonda, although she has apologized for her behavior and her appearance in North Vietnam when we were involved in a war there, still holds strongly to her leftist beliefs and still supports foreign powers who are belligerent or hostile to our nation. She has neither the intelligence, nor the humility to change or to grow as an individual.
There is a huge difference in these personality types.

R.C. Sproul was wrong. As soon as people saw the horror of Planned Parenthood cutting up baby parts and selling them thanks to Project Veritas, people's opinions began to change. It took a couple years, but here we are.
