Private entities interact with the government daily, and many of those who are required to have the requisite security clearance for the work they do. The government isn't the only body that can sponsor someone to receive a security clearance.

Your basic assumptions are at best incomplete and at worst intentionally trying to distort in an effort to produce propaganda. Very dangerous. For instance, what evidence do you have that this review was triggered exclusively because of their politics? Are you aware of anything that would lead you to believe the review did not turn up anything additionally? Beyond that, if it were purely political, why have a small list? Why conduct a review?

Has it been specifically stated why he is losing his clearance?

You don't get to make the argument that this is a slippery slope AND object to the previous administrations abuses. That administration had documented abuses that alone would justify this action being taken.

if we're going to stop them for this reason, it needs to be by implementing a policy that would stop everyone from doing it

That is preferable.

selective rule application isn't far from simple corruption

at this point we don't know the listed reason. If everyone on the list under review has a valid reason for losing clearance, then even if it looks like targeting, it's still their fault.

From July 23:

quote:

Senator Rand Paul (R., Ky.) said he will meet with President Trump Monday to discuss the revocation of John Brennan’s security clearance, alleging the former CIA director has “monetized” his access to classified information through his frequent media appearances.

“Is John Brennan monetizing his security clearance? Is John Brennan making millions of dollars divulging secrets to the mainstream media with his attacks on @realDonaldTrump ?. . .Today I will meet with the President and I will ask him to revoke John Brennan’s security clearance,” Paul tweeted Monday morning.

Brennan, who last week described Trump’s conduct during his joint press conference with Vladimir Putin as “treasonous,” joined NBC and MSNBC as a contributor in February.

Just the fact that it's a selective list of people you idiots have been howling about for years, and far from exhaustive of people who might have done things to deserve clearance revocations.

Why conduct a review?

Probably some legal requirement, or just the veneer of not knee-jerk political targeting, tbh

I'll be sure to inform Senator Paul that he's targeting political opponents since he is the one who raised the issue.

You don't get to claim a slippery slope will be created, you dolt.

What’s so funny about that? Threats against the potus used to be taken seriously.

Everyone knows you are here arguing on Brennan’s behalf purely to spite Trump. But I thought you’d at least be honest enough to acknowledge Brennan’s issues beyond political affiliation that might create cause for his clearance being revoked. Not all Obama era intelligence officials are being stripped, just ones who are embroiled in the dossier controversy, so your argument falls incredibly flat - as usual.

agree with that. it's only super high-up people and appointees that get this selective application

most servicemembers and probably typical agents/employees get pretty much auto-revocation

Yet another deflection.

Shocking

quote:

“I ask that agency heads… conduct a comprehensive review validating that each government employee or contractor who has been granted a security clearance continues to require such eligibility for access to classified national security information in support of their current position or your agency’s mission,” Clapper wrote. “Agencies should debrief all government and contractor personnel who no longer require such access and update the appropriate national security database or repository.”

Obama’s IC stooges “targeting political enemies” back in 2013.
