I understand the minding our own business, not police the world mindset, but if we can fire some missles and slow down a genocidal group like ISIS in the process I have no problem with it

here's my thoughts on this

if international trade is at issue, or one of our trading partners (think a NATO-like group) needs help, then i have no problem

most importantly: we cannot nation build. we fight the people attacking our allies or affecting international trade, destroy them, and leave.

Iraq 1? i don't have problems

Iraq 2? major problems

Didn't Obama move SF guys (500 or so IIRC) into Bahgdad a month or so ago?

Yes. And unless I am mistaken, that is where they were supposed to stay.

But I knew that would not be the case.

Does anyone think this will discourage them long term?
And if it does, will we create/train/fund more of them?

Kudos Mr. President. We helped create this mess. Time to nut up and help clean it up.

Considering all the countries in the region that have a greater vested interest than the U.S. in stopping ISIS (Eg. Turkey, Iran, Saudi Arabia, etc.), why did it fall on us to conduct these air stikes, why couldn't they have done it?

Just curious, who is providing on the ground intelligence for these airstrikes? Communicating with the aircraft? Marking targets?
Those who profit from the need to clear that area out, I presume.

good question

i believe the answer is that in reality, very few nations can conduct efficient air strikes. none of those states are on that list

major, developed european countries had issues with lybia and we had to engage in the bulk of the BS for them

But Turkey and Saudi Arabia have plenty of F-15's, F-16's and Apaches. What can we do with them that they can't?

I'm cool with bombing ISIS. Those are some really evil people that need to be stopped. I'm proud of Obama for making the right decision on this.

Let's not tart sucking each others dicks yet.

Pretty sure he was dragged kicking and screaming to this decision.

I think you're on the right track. Just curious, do you really think this has anything to do with ISIS or are they just the latest convenient boogeyman?

Isn't it ironic that we find ourselves on the same side of a conflict with Al Qaeda, who fought ISIS after disowning them for being too radical?
