The suit would mark the agency’s first significant monopolization case against a major U.S. company in decades. In the late 1990s, DOJ sued Microsoft over what it called the company’s efforts to use its Windows operating system to stifle the Netscape internet browser. DOJ and states won at trial, a decision that was largely upheld on appeal, but Microsoft later reached a settlement with the government.
Europe’s primary competition authority has brought three cases against Google and imposed fines totaling about $9 billion over the search giant’s conduct. Google has filed appeals in all three cases. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission previously investigated Google over allegations that it biases search results to favor its own products. The agency closed the probe in 2013 without taking action after Google agreed to "voluntary commitments" to alter some of its practices.

Those companies typically throw the government enough crumbs to allow them to claim victory while they continue to fleece the public.

Problem with antitrust cases is they can take years and even decades to actually come to a conclusion.

You are wrong. I still remember AT&T being broken up and destroyed. Anti-trust suits usually are not won by the defendant.

Why does the government have such an advantage in these cases?

Resources. The Federal Government can bankrupt anyone it really wants to with legal fees. At a certain point it doesn't become worth fighting.

Well, I just paid them for my cell phone, cable, and internet. They've also got their name on The Deathstar/Jerryworld, so I'm assuming that the government didn't exactly break them.

Is AT&T still in the home phone market? Because that was what they were sued over

ATT was also suffocating the introduction of cell phones. Know anybody that has one of those? You certainly didnt before that lawsuit. So thats what happened to ATTs monopoly
