Trump is willing to follow through. That's why they will capitulate.
Threatening 100% involvement will result in lessening our involvement. I know what you're saying, and I get it, but this is a risk I'm fine taking. Very low risk, guaranteed high reward, even if it doesn't appear at face value to support the agenda.

If Trump actually followed through on this plan, the risks of escalating the conflict is much higher than achieving lasting peace and stability. Any American occupation of Gaza would not only needlessly jeopardize American lives for the primary benefit of a foreign government, it also increases the likelihood that United States will once again become embroiled in another devastating conflict in the region.
In short, the reward may be great for Israel yet not for the United States. And the risk is very high: Trump’s very presidency.
