He is galvanizing support for a brokered convention.

The poll found Sanders essentially running even with Trump in a head-to-head match-up across the districts, trailing the incumbent by just one point. But Trump opens up 6-point advantage after a list of negative messages about Sanders' ideology and alleged ineffectiveness in the Senate is presented to poll respondents.

But Sanders' potential impact extends beyond the presidential race. A plurality of voters, 39 percent, say they will be less likely to vote for a Democrat for Congress if Sanders is the Democratic nominee and his ideas are folded into the party platform. That's nearly double the 21 percent who say they would be more likely to vote for a Democrat for Congress, while 34 percent say it wouldn’t impact their vote.

quote:

The poll found that 47 percent of voters in competitive, Democratic-held districts felt that “the increased role of socialist ideas in the Democratic Party” was a “bad thing,” and 19 percent “ believe it is a good thing,” and 24 percent said “it makes no difference to them.” The poll was conducted Feb. 22-23 and surveyed 600 likely general election voters across 42 districts in the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's "Frontline" program for vulnerable party incumbents. The survey's margin of error is plus or minus 4 percentage points.

quote:

The memo was shared with some House Democrats late Monday, including members in vulnerable House districts. Bloomberg’s House supporters received a briefing on the results, a source said, which are also being used to recruit new endorsers as Sanders rises and Biden’s candidacy largely hinges on the outcome of South Carolina’s primary this Saturday.

Yeah, that makes me question their internal polling.

Tells me it's actually worse than they are letting on.

I always found this very odd. Just because you are a member of a party shouldn't mean you should have the EXACT same ideas as other members.

I think its time for a legitimate 3rd party to rise up.

That's basically what Sanders has done the last 4 years. It's concerning how much support (i.e., "legitimacy") he has garnered. Not that he has much of a chance of becoming President, but the concern is that he paves the way for a future socialism-lite candidate to all of the sudden seem "moderate" and acceptable to the electorate.

They might want a GOP Congress as a check on Bernie.

The DNC has to be questioned why they let The Bern run as a Dem.

After 2016 he went right back to being an "Independent".

On the flip side, I'm sure they figured if he ran as a third party it would definitely torpedo any chance they had at winning a general election.

They're kinda fuct.

Realize, this is in Democrat held districts.

GOP consultants would tie Bernie/AOC around the necks of every single Democratic candidate. You thought the GOP made gains during Obama? It would be nothing compared to what a Sanders candidacy would do.

im not on board with a Sanders, but a Sanders presidency with a Republican congress is the kind of government gridlock i can get down with.

ETA: not that that would happen.

Yet the "poll" did not do the same "service" to Mike"ThrowEmAgainstTheWall"Bloomberg.

It's almost like it was a Sanders hit job . . . . almost
