Truth is there are some great African American stories that did not make it into the history books simply because of their color. I love the old war stories especially. Read a book about Richard Etheridge recently (first black keeper of a life saving station).

Then just add those missing stories in and study History. Having a specific BLACK history month is odd and offensive to each race in the US that doesn't have their own history month. I find history from all regions of the globe pretty fascinating, as well as other cultures, and I don't need some Fake Woke bullshite to make me feel good. That's because I treat people of ALL COLORS like I want to be treated. I don't want to subject others to White History Month, or the White Entertainment Channel, or the White Student Athlete Association because that excludes other people and I don't like excluding others based on their skin color. That's sick. Just like Black History month is divisive and unwarranted. Put the history of blacks in the US in with the rest of US history. Simple as that.

If you want to join a class that is specific to African History once you get to college (or even offer it as an elective in HS...although it should be covered in World History), knock yourself out. Bet it'd be pretty interesting.

Such stupidity. This is why we can't get along.

I'm surprised that they haven't complained or called it racist since the month is February and it has less days than any other month!

We can't get along because there is a month devoted to black history awareness? Seems like we got along for many years with it. Getting rid of it is as stupid as saying we should get rid of statues. Trump designated November as Native American heritage month in 2019. Are you against it as well?

We've been doing it since 1976. Assuming the goal was to fold in the forgotten or left out historical contributions of black people into our history books, have we not been able to do that in nearly 50 years?

If that wasn't the goal, then what was?

"I just want to say that February is Black History Month. Isn’t that nice? The Man gives us February because it’s the shortest month of the year! Now, I’m not complaining, but I think we deserve at least a thirty-day month. It’s also the coldest month of the year, just in case we wanted to have a parade."
