What an embarrassing performance in florida for democrats this year. You pick up around 40 seats in the house and you LOSE an incumbent senate seat in a state trump barely won?

Florida’s long-time Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson conceded Sunday to Republican challenger Rick Scott in the hotly contested race to become the next U.S. senator to represent the Sunshine State.
quote:

Scott was leading Nelson by 10,000 votes in the race to become the next U.S. senator to represent Florida, official results showed Sunday.

Nelson, who served three terms in the U.S. Senate, met his match in Gov. Rick Scott. The victory will be Scott’s third close statewide win in less than a decade.

The victory also marks the first time in more than a century that the Sunshine State has two Republican senators representing them in Washington. The state is scheduled to certify results in the race on Nov. 20.

Question for the "demographics are the doom of the GOP"....how do you explain florida? The state has gotten much browner and less white since 2000 (as a % of state population), yet the GOP is stronger there now than then.

They did well....which kind of explains the point I am making in my OP.

Dems did well in many traditionally gop places in the country, yet can't hold on to a senate seat in a ethnically diverse, very purple state like florida in a bad year for the GOP?

Florida hasn’t had a Democrat governor since the 90s and has two Republican US Senators. The Democrat party of Florida is a joke.

It really is.

There is no excuse for dems to be losing a very diverse state like florida.

There’s a shite ton of cheating in South Florida the democrats are allowed to get away with

Republicans allow em to get away with it too! Sux

Without fraud I’d bet Florida is a plus 3-400,000 republican vote advantage

They’ll be doing same to Texas soon

A lot of the brown people in Florida are Cuban though.

Cubans a lot more likely to vote R than Mexicans.

Highly doubtful. Republicans have stacked the laws on accountability and chain of custody, plus are very tough on photo ID.

Most people thought Bill Nelson died decades ago. In fact he looks like a cadaver.

Trump won Florida. Why are you surprised that an outgoing Rebulican governor beat an aging democrat in a state trump won in? I am not surprised at all.

Some people of color, who work in the private sector, are not as stupid as white liberals.

Lolwut? brown people vote democrat at an absurd rate . Period. That's true in Florida too. If the GOP is surging, it's because of an influx of white Republicans or because some white democrats shifted to GOP.

quote:

Republican registered voters are 83 percent white, 1 percent black and 11 percent Hispanic, MacManus said.

Republican voters are older than Democratic voters, she said, with 63 percent age 50 and older.

Biggest "no fricking shite" stats ever.

Also if we could push out 20 percent of the snowbirds Florida would be red as hell.

Whites have moved further and further into a voting block for the GOP.

For white men nationally were at +70%. Every election it gets more concentrated.

White male liberals are statistically getting close to black male conservatives.
