How are you going to base my tax on stock value that I have not exercised?
Apparently Gates thinks this is income.

I’ve heard it argued that the estate tax is a means by which to slow down accumulated wealth within one family to the point that they become so massively wealthy over generations that they become an entity that can unduly influence public policy and such. Think Rockefellers, Carnegies, Vanderbilts, etc.
This isn’t really what taxes are even for. The idea that tax law is to be used for “justice” is accepting the idea that the government is wielding them as unchecked power to punish.

Taxes are for funding the government —not for getting even against the successful.

I disagree. We should never take anyones, wealth or property from them.

We should just publicly shame them them every time they open their mouths instead!

So how does taxing social security work. Isn’t that money that was already taken via tax?

Don't you know that Social Security isn't a tax?

The way we know it isn't a tax is because they call it a "contribution"

I'm fine with setting up a separate tax policy that taxes bill gates and only bill gates, $15B a year.

IF one felt that the "Rich" needed to pay more in taxes... the way to accomplish that is to tax dividends as ordinary income above a certain level.

Up until the early 2000s, taxable dividends for everyone were taxed at ordinary rates, so this isn't some crazy scheme
