The children were taken to protect them from the child-abduction rings who steal kids and take them to the UK and Israel for sex slavery (or worse).
They lost their parents in the war, from either side, because what they're not telling you also is that most of these are children who are from the FORMER Ukrainian oblasts such as Donetsk and Lugansk. They are RUSSIANS now. The children were taken to fantastic settings with plenty of people who care about them and give them a purpose in life. If they stayed in the former Ukrainian oblasts or went into Ukraine their lives would have been absolute misery, and if they were taken to the UK or Israel or some God-forsaken island for abuse, well, you know what happens. There MAY be a few cases where the child's parents are alive AND the child wants to go back to Ukraine, but not without evidence! Notice how it says "families OR GUARDIANS" -- they are already planning on ruining these kids lives by putting them in the hands of SHADY NGO's.
