All tyrants eventually will go too far. One day they will start something that they want be able to stop.

It’s the third time he’s done it since he was put in office.

Well he's old.

And you know old people say stuff that doesn't make a whole lot of sense most of the time.

Ask Australia how things are going since they gave up their guns.

We are absolutely safer as a nation due to the millions of private gun owners out there.

He didn’t threaten us. He simply encouraged us to get stronger weapons!

This gets tiresome to say, but I’m trying to imagine the Chernobyl level meltdown if Trump had suggested using F-15s on Americans.

And for once, that level of apoplexy would be merited.

This is inexcusable

It’s OK when dems do it!

ETA: how is this not a threat though?
How are F-15s scrambling over American citizens without his orders?

40+ years of service since the original version. That’s an eternity for what was an air superiority fighter.

How is it a threat? He said what many have argued for decades when debating against unlimited gun ownership. To stand up and fight against a country, you need a military, not individuals with guns. Now, I disagree with his point there in that private individuals with guns can keep an overbearing government at bay to a degree, but regardless, he wasn't threatening anyone. Don't let me get in the way of hysterics though.

It’s an implied threat because no one is ever going to have to fight with any F15’s unless a president orders the military to use F15s against its own people. This isn’t hard.

You can spin this however you like, but save everyone the delusion that Trump wouldn’t be getting barbecued for making comments even close to this. You sure AF wouldn’t be here defending it.

You're 100% correct on this one. I agree Trump would never get a pass on a statement like that the same way Biden would.

So you would also agree that if I made the statement; "home invaders don't stand a chance against my AR15 with tacticool banana clip", there's a clear implication that I'm willing to empty said banana clip into the aforementioned home invader? That could be perceived, by any reasonable person, as a thinly veiled threat.

Its a horrible and threatening thing to say and he deserves the scorn for saying it.

I see where you're coming from, and I agree he shouldn't have even gone there. I took the comment more in the abstract rather than him saying the US Govt is going to use F-15s against its own citizens which is so far-fetched its not worth entertaining.

I took it as more of a "you're going to need more than one man with a gun to break into Fort Knox." He was illustrating, on a very basic level, the level of might of individuals vs a military and why he believes the argument in favor of unlimited gun ownership to defend against a tyrannical government isn't a good one. Again, I disagree with him, but this exact point has been argued for decades.
