The White House backed Facebook’s decision to suspend former President Donald Trump for two years, predicting he is unlikely to drop the sharp rhetoric that led to his initial ban from social media platforms.
The social media giant announced Friday Trump would be suspended for two years, retroactive to his Jan. 7 suspension from Facebook and Instagram due to his role leading up to the Capitol riot the previous day. That means the Republican stalwart could return to both sites by early 2023 — potentially in the heat of a GOP presidential primary fight and as the party’s front-runner if he decides to run again. However, it would still deprive the party of its most robust voice during the 2022 midterm elections on the platforms.
But President Joe Biden’s top spokeswoman doubts Trump will do enough over the coming months to earn his way out of the ban.
"Feels pretty unlikely that the zebra is going to change his stripes over the next two years,” press secretary Jen Psaki said Friday. “We’ll see."

Meanwhile turncoat Pence at a speech in NH running for President said he sticks by Jan 6th and not one word about banning free speech of a former President Trump.
Pence was placed to take Trump's place when they tried so hard to oust him. Does Pence think he has a chance?

Its not that hard....no real good alternative. FB is primed to be hit hard. Nothing more to do with it. A good alternative can easily get 10-15 million customers based on being a conservative alternative. And have a campaign where they all delete fb on the same day. Heck have 5m people drop fb in a day would be a signal.
One that could also find a way to help save/transfer their FB history/contacts/pics would be a major plus.

Sounds like coordinated campaign finance activities in order to influence the midterm elections to me. I guess Facebook's not changing its stripes any time soon.

Let them keep on. When the Republicans take power again and decide to shut down Facebook and Twitter just because they can I don't want to hear a peep out of them.

And in 2 years when Trump is ramping up his political efforts, whatever they may support, Facebook will extend the ban so as not to allow him to use their platform for free publicity. Bank on it.
