I definitely care about the innocent victims. I along with several members of my family have been victims of crime.

I'm on record as not caring one iota about criminals. ...even those that commit minor crimes.

Yep. I've been the victim of crime, too. 0/10 would not recommend.

The reality is that almost all criminals eventually return to society. How we treat them while they’re in state custody affects whether they come back more stable or more dangerous. Anyone concerned about future victims recognizes that.

You can care deeply about innocent victims and still recognize that criminal justice policy has to be designed around outcomes, not feelings.

On this we agree.

We need to vote in more Conservative mayors, who will thus appoint stricter D.A.s. and judges.

Extend prison sentences and build a lot more jails and prisons.

Also, a lot more state court decision need to be appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court when it's obvious that the case involves federal consequences, which a lot of local and state crimes fall under.

The Supreme Court needs to take more cases and consider them more in the form of significant national legal importance.

harsh punishment deters crime

You're swapping words here and misrepresenting the position.

Harsh penalties prevent crime. Who really cares about deterrence?

Criminals don't think. They act. And they can't act on Crime #2 if they're already incarcerated for Crime #1.

The primary deterrent for crime is prosperity and access to upward mobility. The primary preventive element is incarceration.
