If for some fluke reason he were to win, Biden doesn't matter, his VP does.

Yeah...I can't envision a Dem Natl Convention w AOC giving the keynote if they are there to nominate Biden.

National poll does not really matter is correct.

Wisconsin Michigan Pennsylvania
Ohio Florida

That is the presidential election right there.

Trump vs Biden/Harris
Trump vs Sanders/ Booker

Unless Hillary or Michelle O get into the game.

Trump has the accomplishments and energy of Biden and Sanders combined when comparing the top of the ticket. Dems will try to compensate with an interesting VP pick that is politically correct and identity group progressive.

A long way to go and we haven’t even had debates yet. However, the field is so large that it’ll be tough for someone other than Biden or Sanders to really get oxygen. I think Kamala has a chance but I also didn’t think Biden would have this kind of lead. He still feels like a forced candidate.

The field needs to consolidate if they want to get someone outside of Biden or Bernie.

Probably from me in September 2015 when it became clear that Trump had a clear path to the nomination.

The difference here is I don’t think Biden is immune to gaffes or whatever like Trump was in 2015-16. When Trump encountered some headwinds or bad publicity, it just made him stronger because it took oxygen away from the other candidates. If Biden doesn’t look like a front runner in the debates, his numbers could drop because a lot of the Dem voters just want someone who could beat Trump. The problem is that the field is so large that it’s not like it would help any one candidate.

The issue is that Biden is already polling in the 40s

In 2015 and early 16 trump was only in the 20s and low 30s

Biden only needs to win over a few of the supporters of other candidates to get to 50%

Totally agree. He could very well coast to the nomination.
