How is a mask mandate legal when the one in Shreveport just got dicked down a couple of days ago?
I'm assuming there is a difference in the authority between the mayor of a city and the governor.
Even then, just because something will be held unconstitutional, doesn't mean state governments will NOT do something.
For example:
Entertainment Software arse'n v. Foti
quote:
Entertainment Software Association v. Foti[1] is a lawsuit filed on June 16, 2006 claiming that a Louisiana law should be declared unconstitutional. The recently passed Louisiana law was a way for the state to censor video games by making it illegal to supply minors with video games considered violent, similar to laws making pornographic material unavailable to minors, but using violence as the criteria instead of sexual content.
quote:
In his April 10, 2007 ruling,[7] Judge Brady stated that he was dumbfounded that the law even passed and was signed into law, given that similar laws were struck down in other states and those same states were forced to pay the legal fees of the plaintiffs. Judge Brady ordered the state to pay $92,000 in legal fees to the plaintiffs, ESA and EMA.
tl;dr - the state, knowingly, passed an unconstitutional law and paid out $92,000 in legal fees for some moral grandstanding.

on 7/11/20 at 1:33 pm to LCLa I wish they would tell us the ACTUAL number of cases. It’s been 4 months. The 76,000 figure is way over blown.
Correct
76803 cases reported
-46334 recovered
- 3295 deaths
——————
27174 active cases
Divided by 4.7 million Louisianians
= .006% of the population

Have any federal or state employees lost their jobs or have had their hours cut like many of us in the private sector? Government needs to feel the pain big time of what they are dishing out.

My law school roommate and I just made a bet, of whether it’s Mask Mandate or Shutdown.
I unfortunately have my money on shutdown.
The remaining virtue signaling lecture referred to in OP is a guarantee. If JBE thinks this is getting him elected senator, even tho cassidy joined the petroleum club, he’s nuts.

Worked for Federal Govt. as a State of Louisiana liaison. Laid off a couple weeks ago. You won’t hear about it but it’s being felt everywhere.

LA GOP needs to nut up or GTFO. This is fricking stupid and quite honestly I’m sick of it. If masks are all we needed, then why did we shut the damn economy down in the fricking first place? Edwards is a damn fool playing this solely for money and political power. But they don’t give a shite about long term consequences. Businesses are ruined, people’s livelihoods are at stake, but don’t worry daddy gubmint will come save you.
I’m sick of having to be quiet for fear of my job. I’m sick of being stuck without a voice while these assclowns peddle Marxism. It’s time to move the frick on. Even reading a wiki article gives you enough info on statistics to know this is stupid.

We need to try to make this work. If it doesn't work and our numbers keep rising, we'll be shut down again.
Just wear the damned masks in indoor public places. They are 70% effective in stopping the spread.

Unless we open everything up and remove any restrictions this shite will take years to go away.
Otherwise we will ride the waves. There will be spikes and then they will slowly decrease.
