If Cuban Troops and Militia do not immediately CEASE military and other operations for the purpose of causing death and destruction to the Constitution of Venezuela, a full and complete embargo, together with highest-level sanctions, will be placed on the island of Cuba.

Hopefully, all Cuban soldiers will promptly and peacefully return to their island!

He should threaten regime change in Cuba too while he’s at it.

If we’re going to behave like interventionists, let’s get rid of the regimes who really deserve it for a change.

How about not? In what planet does meddling in the internal affairs of yet another nation make sense? Especially in Latin America. We have screwed up every nation south of Mexico at some point in the last century and a half, and invaded Mexico twice.

Just stop.

Our interventions in the Western Hemisphere are no less of a disaster than our interventions in the Middle East are. The population is just smaller and we are the only big dog on the block.

Preserving democracy is a fickle thing. It’s not so black and white.

Empty platitude. Some of our biggest, most disastrous interventions were in the name of preserving democracy. And besides, it is not within our right to dictate the form of government in foreign nations.

The old elite did a better job of running Venezuela than the natives, people like Chavez, did. But they ran the country for their own benefit, they were never very concerned about the fate of the native peoples. And that’s why people voted for Chavez.

So we can put Guaido back on the throne. But we can’t change Venezuela. We can’t make that society work better.

The only problem has been little or no follow through.
Next time we need to finish the commies off.

Correct. Its the choice of the people in those countries to choose that, not the thugs with guns after disarming the populace.

Agreed.
In order for that option to be available, the forces that hinder that process need to be disabled. They will not willingly step out of the way.
