You don’t have to drive a car, but if you do, they want you to do so safely. I understand seatbelt laws, though I vehemently disagree with them. I also have a big problem with speed limits, inspection stickers, dui enforcement, mips, Laws against open-containers, and all other manner of taxation via citation, but then again, I’m a radical. The stop sign analogy was a ridiculous stretch and you know it.
On the flip side, I have to occasionally enter public places to purchase goods and services. I have to abide by an arbitrary mandate under penalty of prosecution in order to simply survive in my daily life. That’s a whole new level of government intrusion into my life.
Masks may be a short term issue, but one’s stances regarding them are indicative of their general philosophy regarding the role of government in society. Someone who believes in criminal penalties for people not wearing mask in public and for businesses that do not require them have a very different understanding of what government is supposed to be for than I do. Someone who would support such an arbitrary and draconian measure would surely support other arbitrary and draconian measures that I would find far more offensive.

Result of decades long studies with tangible results. Show me the studies stating any mask saves lives. I'll wait. And FTR, i mean under the current guidelines definition of masks.

wear safety equipment in certain occupations & circumstances
OSHA developed these rules also based off of history, and mitigation procedures/techniques. Laws don't mandate you wear a hard hat on a construction project. However, if you are hurt, the company that did or did not provide a hard hat is held liable. Nowhere near related to covid and masks, but nice try.

quote:NO, I didn't. I never mentioned anyone winning in the primary. I posted:
I mean you called Broome’s victory in the primary “a mathematical certainty”.
quote:Why do you keep claiming I've said things that I have not posted?
Frankly I believe Broome will win the runoff no matter who her opponent is.
The mathematical certainty I referred to is strictly based on demographics of East Baton Rouge Parish including party affiliation.
Clinton beat Trump in EBR Parish in 2016 by almost 10%. And not only that, EBR has voted for the Presidential Democrat candidate the last THREE elections.
EBR even went with Dem Edwards over Republican Rispone for governor by a 2-1 margin and Baton Rouge is Rispone's home town!!
East Baton Rouge Parish is a majority Democrat parish.

And Bodi only lost by 4000 votes. EBR is actually pretty close to 50/50. Cambell beat Kennedy in EBR by just 4 points in the Senate runoff. If there’s no Senate race, turnout could be very different.

And Bodi only lost by 4000 votes.
If you're really a politician like numbnuts claims you are, then you know how much being an incumbent usually adds to that candidate's vote total. See the 2019 governor's race results in EBR parish for reference. The incumbent governor got almost twice as many votes in EBR Parish as the home town candidate.

Gubernatorial runoffs have VERY different historical turnouts than mayoral and Senate runoffs. Edwards is FAR more popular with blacks in BR than Broome is. She’s seen as a carpetbagger.

I'm just here for the dirt on Matt Watson. Please spill the beans.

Watson.
I was willing to break my no democrat ever rule to vote for Tara Wicker in (at least in the first round) because I think she was the only one with a chance to beat that Broome bitch. Now we’ll never know and that racist idiot is gonna win again.

3) And a long time favorite of mine: Carter wants to redirect some of the dedicated taxes going to BREC, the library and Council on Aging and put those funds into the city's general fund account to be spent on higher priority items, such as raises for law enforcement and cleaning up our littered streets or blighted houses.
Just to let you know - this cannot be done legally without a vote - dedicated millage is just that ‘dedicated’ - the people have decided to keep those funds going to certain areas - and they cannot be reallocated legally without the people deciding.

I don't like the mask mandates either, but to claim they are obviously unconstitutional is a stretch. If you feel so strongly about it, file a lawsuit against the mask mandates.
Go for it!!
Until then, nice try...

Wicker is in someones pocket come runoff time. And as stated earlier its not Watson

Carter is willing to fight that battle to get voters to reallocate some of those millages. He thinks he can sell it.

I do feel so strongly. There’s already multiple lawsuits having been filed on it that are making their way through the Louisiana court system. I’m going to see if I can get permission to file an amicus brief when it reaches the state supreme court, so don’t ever accuse me of not putting my money where my mouth is.
Also, all 3 GOP candidates have made it their position to support ordinances to rededicate money from BREC and the Libraries to fund services. It’s not like Carter’s the only one jousting at that windmill.
They all support pay raises for officers. I don’t know if all of them support fusing EBRPSO and BRPD, though.

All I know has already been mentioned by others or is related to the loan default news article I posted earlier. That's not a rumor. That's a fact that has been ruled upon by a court.

so don’t ever accuse me of not putting my money where my mouth is.
What I have accused you of, and you've don't it at least three times in this thread alone, is claim I've said something that I haven't said.
Why do you keep doing that? What is your agenda to keep doing that?

Well then count my vote for Watson. I won't vote for a candidate with such spineless supporters.
