It would play Incredibly well in garnering more support that these trials are political witch hunts.

The media mob would be apoplectic.

POTUS Trump should have his son Barron, with his High School Principal and the high school band, roll up, under very heavy security, in a beautiful convoy of black surburbans, including an ambulance. The band gets out and plays pomp and circumstance as the Principal hands Barron his diploma.

Then Barron and his dad, POTUS Trump, enter the courtroom together with Melania and the rest of the family of POTUS Trump.

He should do whatever he feels like.

I get your idea though, and it's solid AF.

Seems early in the year for a High School graduation.

But I agree with the OP

Maybe they could all sing a musical number when the file into court? I know Trump likes show tunes. They could all don tuxedos and canes and sing Hello My Baby, Hello My Honey, Hello My Rag Time Gal on the steps of the court. That would guarantee his reelection!

Nah, if I’m Trump, I go to the graduation. Every parent in America would be on Trump’s side.

This kangaroo court cannot and should not keep a parent from his son’s high school graduation.

Good Lord.

And insert himself into a highly polarized poo-flinging contest among ignorant gasbags with social media accounts and limitless free time? ...as an 18 yr old kid?

The graduation is in May. Trump just showed the forethought to make his request early in the process.

If the Defendant/parent were Pauline the Pusher, Reggie the Rapist or Mickey the Murderer, should they too be allowed to delay their trials to attend some family-related event or ceremony?

If not, why should DJT get special consideration?

Yeah, because an NDA is tantamount to rape and murder.

The stupidity on this board displayed by some is actually stunning.

So you think that the court should treat some Defendants differently than others with regard to disappearing from their trials. Fair enough.

Now, please cite the NY statute or procedural rule consistent with your position.

You mean like having a trial delayed 2 1/2 years so that it timed perfectly for him to be stuck in court during an election? That kind of “special consideration”?

You leftist are the real threat to democracy. You are exactly what y’all call your opponents, fascist

Get a crowd from across the street to yell over and over "Love You Barron". When a Lying Media (MSM) reporter asks, "What are they yelling, Barron can tell her "FU#H JOE BIDEN"!!

In New York, they probably would.

E en if Trump were guilty, the crime he's accysed of is nowhere nearDrug dealer, rapist, or murderer. You leftists are a deranged bunch.

Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release for you: Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ

You and your ilk would cheer for the murderer!

Bond?
Passport confiscating?

That's literally treating defendants differently with regard to disappearing from their trials.

Judges have a lot of leeway in their court. And if they want to close court on a Thursday in May, they certainly can.

you are conflating separate and distinct issues.

First, there is the question of whether Trump can simply not be present for one day of the trial. Under the relevant procedural rule in New York, the judge does not have the discretion to allow that, if the prosecution objects. it simply cannot happen.

Second, there is the question as to whether the court should call a recess for all or part of the day of the graduation. Yes, he does have that discretion. And he has already said that he may grant such a recess, if the trial is on schedule at that time.
