Bad year for journalists

So, I'm watching a Link TV show about the attack on journalists. 2018 was a bad year with about 80 killed and a similar number in prison. They blame it on Trump and his anti-journalists inflammatory rhetoric.
But then they go to the breakdown. Almost all of the killings are in Muslim countries and Mexico (drug cartels). So, why are Muslims and Mexicans following Trump's lead? I thought they didn't like Trump.
Then, all of the imprisoned journalists are in Muslim countries and China. Why is China taking Trump's lead? I thought we were having a trade war with China.

The commentators brought up the fact that 'Right wing extremists in Germany have accused the journalists of lying.'
Their reaction was mocking. How can people be so stupid to not realize journalists are in the business of telling the truth.
They also brought up the idea that journalists have to stop being so objective just because they respect the office of the presidency. By being respectful in their criticism of Trump they are legitimizing his evil.

The media loves to play the persecuted card. Saw where 8 reporters died this year in the US making it one of the most dangerous places for them. Sounds bad.
Oh, but then you find out two died reporting weather events, and another 5 were shot by a disgruntled fired employee in Baltimore.
