By default he has to have more information than us
Now using that logic you could not possibly criticize any president for any decisions made with regards to foreign policy. Because after all they were making the best decision with more information than you and I are privy to.

We don’t have permission from the Brits to use that base to launch an attack from.
We allow the Brits the illusion that they have any authority, when it matters they will do what they are told.

Except... unlike our last at least two democrat presidents, I think it's widely acknowledged that Trump really DOES love this country. At least if you've been paying attention from the 80s til now.

Do you think George Bush loved this country? I do. Do I think George Bush made some incredibly stupid foreign policies? Yes. Did he have more information than we did when he made those decisions? Of course he did.
Why would you think Trump would be immune to making similarly bad mistakes. It's not about just liking the country. It's about making wise choices.

They have some law there that requires permission from whatever they call the AG there. He has to review and make sure everything is legal internationally.

Was Bush a democrat? I used my words selectively for a reason.

Hindsight is always 20/20.

I don't think he IS immune... I just am not seeing these 'mistakes' quite yet. Can they happen? Sure! He isn't infallible.

I said he loved this country... not like or admire.
I feel he will make the choices that seem wise in the moment and I trust his judgment. Yeah, he may very well frick it up come hindsight... but no one is going to be perfect leading a nation of over 300 million people.

I'm just asking you to consider that he might unintentionally frick this up. It doesn't matter how good his intentions may be. And you're silly to think that Democrats hate the country. At least at the presidential level the leadership has been almost identical on a foreign policy front as when Republicans are in charge.

Yeah but that's why you dont take big gambles like this on matters of war. The risk / reward is not favourable. Its why im still hopeful that DJT won't actually do it. Hes hopefully learned not to play a weak hand just because it's brash.

I'd ask you to consider ANY politician that you'd trust to handle it better. I'm coming up zero on that.

Are you serious? Every single thing they harp on is a net negative to a cohesive, productive, engaged populace.

What republican president went on an apology tour? I'll wait. Obama did not LOVE this country, he wanted to TRANSFORM it.
I don't get you, Powerman... a lot of your posts I jive with, but then... posts like this have me scratching my head.

All matters of war, peace, deterrence are big gambles.

And yet the foreign policies didn't change while he was in office. We did Israel's bidding in the middle east just like we did with Bush and just how they're trying to bait us into now

Pallets of cash? Anyone? Bueller?
Posted on 6/21/25 at 2:06 am to SallysHuman
That worked out too well for Israel because inspectors were allowed in
Meanwhile the Obama administration did Israel a solid by softening up Syria for them. We have had an Israel first foreign policy for decades and Obama happily played his part in it. You're naive to think otherwise.

How did pallets of cash work out for Israel, exactly?

This is elective surgery. And Israel is driving this. It has all the makings of a legacy defining mistake for Trump. Why take that risk? Risk your entire legacy to make Bibi happy? Barf.

It didn't. You assume Israel wants peace. They don't. They want war. The best way to get that is to bring back the nuclear weapon threat. Trump gave them that gift by ending the existing deal. Israel doesn't think for a second that Iran would attack them with a nuke even if they had one. The nuclear threat is just a pretext for much bigger things.
