Glad to see this. I saw one of his relatives earlier this week and he mentioned he may go to the White House soon to visit.

This world is not our home, and we have never been promised an easy life. It rains on the just and unjust. Everyone has heartaches, trials and pain. Everyone suffers in some way. Life is going to happen with our without God in our lives. I have just found it easier to walk through those times with God in it.

The board progressives may be confused by the OP's comment.

Why you go ahead and fig it up for them.

This is going to piss off the progressives that are already mad that he was brought home safely.
What a very, very strange post.

Everyone is entitled to his opinions regarding the origin of the universe.

I do not know one soul who is angry that this astronaut made it home safely.

Explain that to a 6yo kid growing up in the 60's. Why a God would take both his parents on a Sunday morning headed to church. Taken out by a drunk.

My grandparents tried to but, early on I kinda saw through it. Pass the the plate, give more if you can.

My dad lost his dad at 10. He grew up dirt poor while his sister and her husband supported him and grandma. None of them lost their faith.

There's a story I like. People are like bottles. When you drop them, they shatter. Some shatter into tiny pieces. Others shatter into shards that can be used as weapons.

Life is hard. Some people let it break them. Some use it to make themselves stronger. God never promised a perfect life on Earth.

You still had family to raise you like my dad did. Other kids would have ended up in foster care. You could have had it worse. A lot of life depends on how you look at it and how you react.

I'm sorry for what you went through, but everyone in their life will at some point be able to say, "This is bad. Why did God let it happen?" Some people have it better, some worse. As humans, we tend to focus on those who have it better. I think God wants it the other way around.

It takes faith to believe all this came about by happenstance.

Great point. To believe all this just happened requires as much faith as believing God created it. Listen to how scientists describe how "perfect" DNA is. And I'm supposed to believe that happened by luck. Not a chance.

I agree. Growing up, my smartest friend was always an atheist. He found Christ only after he graduated college. He told me his great revelation happened once he had taken a ‘celestial mechanics’ class and he started to understand how vast, yet synchronized the universe is.

And still I believe God has His hand out to these people to return to Him, return to that faith so that they can have the scales removed from their eyes.

I’m sure this isn’t unique although the path may be, but I can remember as a little kid looking up at the night sky in wonder, and often walking in the woods behind the house and saying to God that I could see His creation and knew there had to be a purpose behind it all, but I believed in Him, and then later accepting Him into my heart and experiencing God’s presence in my life, and then later learning more about scientific discovery and what God says in scripture, and how my faith only increased as a result of it.

I believe that God has us all on our own personal journey, and the end result is to fulfill His will, and that is to come to know and believe in Him, and upon Him for our life. We certainly are given a choice to accept or reject Him, but it is all done in love for us, all of it.
