You didn't hurt my feelings, I was just trying to give you some knowledge since you were ignorant on the subject matter you were discussing.

I'd presume it was politically motivated, then remembered it is in Arkansas. The drivers there are atrocious, so it is possible some terrible driver just hit it.

Lol, what? I'm not sure what your angle is here, but look...I am perfectly aware that Arkansas contains many religions.
However, if you want to be super serious about it like you seem to want, then I will say that I doubt the Arkansas legislature is a proper representation of this religious diversity that you keep talking about.

At first I hated they didn't release the name but then I like it. Just start throwing these asshats in jail, repair what they break and move on. Stop giving them their 15 minutes of twitter fame.
What they should do is drag their arse out into the middle of the street and lop off their dome and pit it on a stick where the monument was previously located.
Guaranteed no other vandalism will occur in that area.

And...who the frick are you?
So many people on this site need professional help. I made no comments on whether I was personally religious or not, nor whether I thought the monument was a good idea in the first place, nor whether I even think anything religious should be placed at the Capitol and idiots are still getting all riled up because I corrected someone for being a fool.

You corrected someone who was obviously being sarcastic. Pretty clear who the fool is in this situation.

Take the multiple people you're having to juggle right now.
Now multiply it by 10. Thats how many people we're (different opinons) bombarded with daily with either incompetence or ignorance. 1 out of 20 might be worth responding to and having rational discourse with.

In reading this thread I conclude that the religios pendulam will forever swing completely to the left and completely back to the right.
In another 1000 years we'll be blowing each other up just like the Shiites and Sunnis....

Doubtful. Each year religion gets less and less popular.

heres the second thing that the carved image that was destroyed says...
number 2: “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above."
way to go, gang.
i also enjoy that number 10 is about coveting what you neighbor has, but 30 seconds earlier "god" said "I am a jealous God" and "You shall have no other gods before Me". he doesn't say there aren't other gods, only that he's jealous of them.
so for "god" to sin while giving the commandments defining what a sin is, looks a little sketchy.

You should stay away from theology until you get a better grasp of it. You're embarrassing yourself.

What do you think the common denominator is for the countries seeing a decrease in religiosity?

Well it is completely inappropriate to display the Ten Commandments on State House grounds anyways.
Weird that you swear on a bible in court eh?

The State doesn't mandate that you must swear on a bible in court.
If someone is opposed to swearing on a Bible then they don't have to but I get your point.

"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs." -1 Tim. 6:10
"but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful" -Mark 4:19
People who lack for nothing ask for nothing from God and rely on something other than God to provide for them (themselves or someone/something else). It's why 1st world nations are increasing in their worship of government.

quote:when you say "a court house" youre talking about laws. and if what youre saying is true, then the 10 commandments would have been laws.
It is totally appropriate to commemorate the 10 commandments in front of the court house. That set of laws formed the basis for the way of life observed by the founders of this nation. It is perhaps the most appropriate thing imaginable to have in front of a court house.
and yet...
murder, stealing, and perjury are the only commandments that are also laws, and those are universal laws around the world regardless of a countries religion, theyre basic common sense.
the 10 commandments have nothing to do with our legal system.
