Most of European country’s militaries are a joke. There is maybe France and England. That’s about it.

Do you (VOR) post the most unpopular takes just for the fun of it?

Let them pay for their own prescription drugs. Americans are tired of footing the bill for the rest of the world

We are not funding their social programs?
Are we not? When for 70 years they never spent a dime toward NATO, they spent it on their social programs while we provided security. We could have used that money on us. Now we have a President that knows this.

Did a lot of NATO countries spend less than was prudent on their militaries, especially after the fall of the Soviet Union? Absolutely.
But "never spent a dime?" Jeebus. How old are you? 25?
In the 1970s and 1980s, the Bundeswehr was seriously badass, until their political leaders got distracted by absorbing their Eastern cousins rather than maintaining their military.

How old are you? Im 68 and old enough and you are what?
Im sure they spent some, but not enough, our MIC made sure of that.

In the 1980s, NATO fielded about 3.5mm troops in Europe, of which only about 300,000 were American.

quote:I googled it just today. Care to guess how many active duty members Great Britain current has? 74K! The Alabama National Guard has 14K. We are talking about a population of 65 million to 5 million. Europe is not serious about national defense as long as Americans are willing to foot the bill, and spill blood to snatch their arse out of the fire!
LOL, I can’t laugh at this enough. Most of European country’s militaries are a joke. There is maybe France and England.

This includes the British Army, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, and Royal Marines. In 2025, the British Army had around 109,000 personnel, the Royal Navy had 37,900, and the Royal Air Force had 34,830. about 140,000 of them are "active duty."
Yes, too small for a country with the population of Great Britain.

Drop the NATO fake bullshite without question.
We spent ungodly sums of money on this Cold War LARP, all while EU Marxist politicians flooded their own cities with degenerate, violent 3rd worlders. So what did we accomplish exactly?

Just a scheme to get the USA to participate in European defense

The number that you quoted is fairly close to the number of the personnel in the British active duty army only.

The NATO budget is far less than you probably think. Just over 4 billion.
LINK
The USA pays just over 15 percent of that.
I'd hardly say that is a crushing amount, it's less than a billion dollars a year. Sure that is not chump change, I realize that, but people who don't look into these things think we are paying much more as both an amount and as a percentage.
