I vaguely remember in my early teens Reagan's first term there seemed to be a lot of establishment Gerald Ford type Republicans that were hell bent on damaging the Republican Party insurgent Reagan. But as Reagan put some skins on the wall especially in terms of foreign policy and taxes they came around and were generally supportive.

As Trump continues to put some skins on the wall is your perception of him as a conservative changing?

You'd think the dumb bastards could just look at their retirement accounts and instantly forget a few Twitter rants.

If that's the barometer, Obama was an awesome president.

I know this is a major want of this board, but his numbers haven't gone up....

to this point. Perhaps this bill will change things, but I think it will only solidify his base, but there really wasn't much room for improvement there.

His overall approval still sits at 37%, which is awful, but at least it's a little better than the 33% of the people who were in favor of the tax overhaul.

For me personally, no, because I'm of the opinion tax reform was coming as long as a Republican won, and I think other candidates would have won too. I think other candidates would have gotten us to this point without the childish stuff, but I'm glad we're here nonetheless.

Also, Trump can't be insulated from criticism on healthcare failures due to Congress while also receiving praise for the tax reform bill. Can't have it both ways.

Serious question. Why?

You like the Space program and you like the tax cut. Is it really his attitude?

They're fishing for their validation in a melt that isn't there.

Very sad.

33 % of the oversampled Democrats were in favor of the tax overhaul.

How many were against it? Not how many weren't for it, how many were actually against it?

For me, it's become more about cementing the fact of just how anti-left I have become. The way they have acted over the last 13 months is nothing short of appalling.

So to answer the OP, no I'm not coming around on Trump. Still don't like the guy. I'm just running so far away from the left that yes I would vote for Trump in the next election.

His agenda and goals never were, and still really aren't, his negatives. At least not to me.

It's why, despite him being..."uncultured" for a sitting President, he is/was infinitely better than anything the Dems could put out.

So yea, damn fine job advancing some of the agenda! But some of his rhetoric still makes him sound like a buffoon.

That’s actually a great point. I believe many many left of center democrats no longer recognize their party.

They are arguing with each other on if they are “pure” enough to be progressive.

It’s insane.
