One doesn't mean shite for the other

Romney was a Republican governor of fricking Massachusetts before losing that state to Obama 60-37%

You say that as if it happened in a vacuum, it didn't.

The DNC spent millions of dollars, sent down almost all of their heavy hitters to do appearances for their candidate, had the press from sea to shining sea carrying water for them in a month-long full-court press of nebulous claims of sexual harassment against a Republican candidate who had the warmth and charm of a Coke machine and you call that a win?

Okay.

Alabama was about as much a referendum on Trump as JBE's win was a referendum on Obama. (hint: it wasn't)

There were 8 years between those elections. Just 1 year until mid-terms.

It's all about his support for Putin

Trump doesn't support Putin. He's been pretty neutral toward him. However selling LNG to Poland is actually an economic threat to Putin.

quote:

Euro-style nationalist socialism

Socialism? Really? You can't be serious.

And I wouldn't call it Euro style nationalist. It's just nationalist. If looking out for the U.S. and Americans first is nationalist then he has my full support.

quote:

Despite all of this, there is no way I can ever come around to President Trump. He betrayed our country and sided with our long-time enemy, and continues to this day to intentionally support that enemy's propaganda war against the U.S. intelligence community, and American social and political institutions in general.

What will you do when you find out this is all contrived nonsense by our IC to cover for the weaponized politicization of our FBI that led to tapping of Trump's wires during the campaign to basically spy on him and entrap him in any form of criminal behavior possible all in an effort to get Hillary elected?

quote:

His entire rise to power has been propelled by conspiracy theory

I don't know what you mean by this. Seems like a general means nothing ad hom.

quote:

anti-freedom grievance-mongering over immigration

If following existing law regarding immigration policy is anti-freedom grievance mongering then take it up with congress. They have the power to change the laws. It was the previous administration who ignored immigration laws to gain more votes, fill the coffers of their favorite NGO's (looking at you Catholic Church) and get cheap labor.

quote:

U.S. foreign policy.

His foreign policy has been great so far, IMO. Especially the shift in ME partners in terms of Egypt, the Saudis, and our approach a little more east with Afghanistan, Pakistan and I love our new relationship with India.

quote:

He has turned American conservatism into a grotesque carnival show, where all popular media commentators must now grovel before him or face the consequences of the populist mob.

This is called looking over your shoulder making sure your paymasters don't get angered by positive Trump comments that begrudgingly ensue.

quote:

He continues to support Putin & Assad in Ukraine & Syria,

He's been neutral on Putin in Ukraine. That's water under the bridge. That happened under Obama watch. Why does this even make you mad? What US interest is there in Ukraine?

Assad is the best of the worst leaders in Syria. At least Christians could live somewhat of a safe life in Syria under Assad and Assad ruled regions of Syria are somewhat secular. Much better than ISIS or those fake rebels who turn into ISIS once we supply them with weapons.

quote:

Putin's ability to interfere in American elections again in 2018 and 2020 and on into the future.

This is such a delusion. The level of Putin interference is inconsequential. If you want to get mad at foreign influence in our election take a look at Britain. They were overtly influential. Nigel Farage campaigned extensively for Trump.

quote:

He has alienated a huge share of the U.S. electorate, and will cause the GOP to go down in flames in the November 2018 midterm elections.

No. That won't happen.

quote:

Worst of all, he will further damage the reputation of American conservatism when the truth finally comes out, and he is convicted in U.S. courts for his betrayal of our country, which will stand out as the worst in all of American history.

Convicted of what?

Geez, you are caught up in this Russian delusion. Snap out of it man.

Take a look at the list Doc puts Trump in the company in and you'll probably get a sense of his opinion.

I myself don't know what Trump's exposure at the level of planning and ordering but the obstruction of justice case is getting stronger. It looks like Mueller's got documents saying that Don MacGahn thought back in January that Flynn had possibly lied to the FBI or violated the Logan Act or both. This was prior to Trump's asking Comey for personal loyalty and to back off Flynn.

quote:

The White House turned over records this fall to special counsel Robert Mueller revealing that in the very first days of the Trump presidency, Don McGahn researched federal law dealing both with lying to federal investigators and with violations of the Logan Act, a centuries-old federal law that prohibits private citizens from negotiating with foreign governments, according to three people with direct knowledge of the confidential government documents.

The records reflected concerns that McGahn, the White House counsel, had that Michael Flynn, then the president’s national security advisor, had possibly violated either one or both laws at the time, according to two of the sources. The disclosure that these records exist and that they are in the possession of the special counsel could bolster any potential obstruction of justice case against President Donald Trump.

The records that McGahn turned over to the special counsel, portions of which were read to this reporter, indicate he researched both statutes and warned Trump about Flynn’s possible violations.

McGahn conducted the analysis shortly after learning that Flynn, on Dec. 29, 2016 — while Barack Obama was still president — had counseled the Russian ambassador to the United States at the time, Sergey Kislyak, not to retaliate against U.S. economic sanctions imposed against Russia by the outgoing administration.

McGahn believed that Flynn, and possibly anyone who authorized or approved of such contacts, would be in potential violation of the Logan Act, according to two of the sources, both of whom work in the administration.

There were ford republicans? Seems like those would pretty much be Nixon republicans and many of them were distancing themselves from watergate and Reagan owned the party from the start, That was my perception of it

I support the new tax bill.
I supported the GOP effort to repeal and replace ObamaCare earlier this year.
I generally support Trump's judicial nominations and executive decisions on the EPA and ObamaCare.
I support Trump's public criticism of Obama's JCPOA deal with Iran.
I supported Trump's strike on Assad's airfield.
I supported Trump's move to get closer to Sisi in Egypt and MBS in Saudi Arabia, and to isolate Qatar's rogue behavior.
I supported Trump's statement to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
I supported Trump's going public with China about needing to shut off its support for the PRNK, and threatening a trade war over it.

Despite all of this, there is no way I can ever come around to President Trump. This tax cut was a nice step forward and they are rolling it out nicely today. Trump seems to be finding his groove.

McConnell deserves some credit as well, the man has delivered on two big accomplishments for Trump. He also tried to keep him away from Moore, who was a freaking landmine.
