I just dont get how people are against the tariffs when the purpose is to level the playing field and to bring more jobs to America?

It’s simple, because the purpose doesn’t matter, only the end result.

They won’t level the playing field, theyll just cause a lot of short term pain only to settle at prices higher than where you started.

This isn’t complicated.

Have no fear, the recovery side of this will largely benefit those who already have a ton of money and likely just further contract the US middle class

By recovery, do you mean the market? If so, do you not think the majority of people that are already in the market with retirement or brokerage funds will benefit from the recovery as well? I just don't understand how the recovery will "largely benefit" only those with a ton of money?

Not true. We won't be happy until we force people like you out.

So you believe more American jobs is a bad thing? I think the majority of Trump supporters understood that short term pain was going to be part of this process. The last admin pushed policies geared to everyone besides regular Americans that the correction has to cause some short term pain.

Good time to be out of the high risk assets? Way too much uncertainty and there could be turmoil now and into the future.

Is your TDS too great that you forgot that Trump had hundreds of tariffs during his first term that are still being used today?

I wonder who would collapse America first in a vacuum? Spending like someone on a bender that rivals hunter biden or trying trade polices when you are the world economic behemoth?

The amount of gain from what will only be a limited increase in jobs in a certain sector is nothing compared to the amount of loss in purchasing power resulting from tariffs. Not even close.

As an example, the last trade war Trump created led to a net decrease in 245,000 jobs.

Isn’t it amazing how this never gets brought up. As much as Biden blamed Trump for everything, they kept Trump’s tariffs on China because they were brining in so much revenue. It’s too bad we can’t have an honest discussion with lefty SCUM!

Serious question, you know that inflation includes the stock market too right? We have decades of poor fiscal policy to reverse before it's too late. It will be painful especially for those who have banked on gov't dollars.

Your article is from 2021. So why didn’t Biden end the China tariffs?

Interesting association. You sound like a big investor. Given what were definitively elevated market PEs, what would you consider a healthy pullback, sans any tariff skyscreaming?

E.g., Buffett was selling against these levels for a year. Why?

Meanwhile, the housing market is beginning to benefit from declining rates. Decreases in regulations will kick into productivity in a few months.
