IF there was ever ANY doubt that she is uniquely deranged, this piece should remove that doubt. She's deranged, stupid, a lightweight elected to a serious position, and unashamedly anti-American. It would be funny if she wasn't in the position she's in and raking in the salary that she is.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., stated on Monday that the Democratic Party is a "center or center-conservative" party and how there currently isn't a "left" party in the United States.
Speaking at an event commemorating Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Ocasio-Cortez knocked her own party for not being progressive enough.

"We don't have a left party in the United States. The Democratic Party is not a left party," the freshman congresswoman began, which sparked applause from the audience. "The Democratic Party is a center or a center-conservative party.”
She continued, "We can't even get a floor vote on Medicare-for-all -- not even a floor voted that gets voted down. We can't even get a vote on it. So this is not a left party. There are left members inside the Democratic Party that are working to try to make that shift happen."

The Democratic "Squad" member also compared Monday's gun rights protest in Richmond, Va., to the protests that followed the deaths of Freddie Gray and Eric Garner and questioned what she thought was the lack of police presence at the commonwealth's capital.
"There's this gun rights protest that's going on in Richmond ... on MLK Day, but here's the image that has [stuck] with me the most about that is that when we go out and march for the dignity and the recognition of the lives of people like Freddie Gray and Eric Garner," Ocasio-Cortez explained, "the whole place is surrounded by police in riot gear without a gun in sight. And here are all of these people flying Confederate flags with semiautomatic weapons and there's almost no police officers at that protest."

The Overton window has shifted there is no denying.

The next chance the Dems have with House, Senate and Prez you can bet your arse: universal healthcare, student loan forgiveness, some sort of action on the second amendment, and the total banning of oil gas drilling.

Take it to the bank.

I think she's right actually. I've felt for a long time now that we actually need a minimum of 4 parties. We need to keep the Democrat and Republican parties and we need to add a socialist and libertarian party. The idea behind multiple parties is to force these caniving motherfrickers to form coalitions within government to get things done.

More parties should cut down on overall corruption.

Also, just speaking in general terms here, but I support anyone's push for having more parties established. The two party thing we have now is a total failure.

In general, I don't think multi party systems work very well. I'm thinking Italy, France, Israel, Spain, etc, etc. It inevitably leads to ridiculously complicated elections, eye-popping alliances and, IMHO, the chances of corruption are highly increased.

I also don't think that our constitutional system would work with a multi-party scenario.

What does this have to do with a multi party system? Do you have any evidence to back up your claim?

Any particular reason?

I disagree vehemently. The more parties you have the less likely corruption will fester because you're increasing competition.

If I'm a crook and I have a pet project I want to ram through Congress, in a four party system I have to pick my candidate and back him against 3 different opposition groups rather than just 1 like it is now.

Besides, what we have now is really mostly a uniparty anyways. They put Ds and Rs beside their name, but they play for the same team.

More parties IMO = tougher for the bad guys to get their way.

Not to mention the fact that the way the math would work out you would have to form cross-the-aisle coalitions. In our current two-party setup they just wait until one side takes the majority and then they ramrod all their projects through then. It's rare you ever see bipartisan anything in our current government.

I was responding, in general terms, to BoarEd. I've come up with examples of countries where the multi party system isn't working very well. If you want a debate, and I'm not going to get into it with you, the only example you really need is Italy. Why don't YOU come up with some examples of multi party systems that are free of blemish?!?!

Why would anyone try to do that? There's no such thing.

That's a straw man argument. If you want to debate, don't do that.

Don't you see how that's a ridiculous claim?

Every country has blemishes, that comes with the territory of being a government.

Hmmm, yet in all of the countries I've mentioned political scandals are more the rule than the exception.

You're talking about politics here, not economics.

Please split the party and stop spewing that big tent bullshite. There’s always been strange bedfellows in the party and it’s been bound to come to a head in the era of identity politics.

I keep waiting for it to come out that she is secretly on Trump's payroll. Nobody is this dumb.

Competition for power breeds corruption?
Just a guess.

I've said my piece. I'm not going to debate it.

We are currently seeing the fruits of a two-party oligarchy run amok unfolding on Capitol Hill. It's almost as if I've been transported back in time to the Salem Witch Trials these days.

I know nobody likes Cortez, but I think she's right on this one.
