Delusions of Oppression - maybe that’s a better term than entitled.

We’ve thought about moving, although for us the “rural” part would likely take precedence over the actual region. There are plenty of areas of the Deep South that have had very little in the way of serious tension, and far less than other largely rural/white areas outside the South (Davenport, Iowa being a prime example).

Don’t really care about “predominantly white” either. White people might be the majority in rural areas, but that seems sort of incidental. As long as a particular place has that self-sufficient, practical, tight-knit community mindset we’re looking for, we’d be happy. Besides, some of the most toxic individuals I know at this point are white, so I wouldn’t be willing to assume that people think like me just because they look like me. That’s a good way to find yourself out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Are you kidding? We have more firepower down south than the yankee territory has. On another issue. If those BLM mother frickers have their little baby feelings hurt when the see the confederate battle flag, if they had any balls they would look into how much slavery took place under the american flag before the civil war started. How does 13% of the population get to make all these new laws and the majority just sits back and doesn’t say a thing. White people are spineless pussies.

I'm not trying to be difficult. I'm just trying to understand what it is you're trying to get away from since you insinuate you're conservative.

So delusions of oppression. Do you mean like white folks that think the media and/or crazy liberals are out to change America and make it difficult for conservatives? If not that, then what. Could you elaborate, because it's kind of vague what you want to go away from.

The several formerly conservative and libertarian dominated western states are steadily being populated by commies.

Better study it some more. Not a good idea to leave Deep South for there, IMO.

My wife are deeply rooted folks - small hometown type people, if you will. I never thought we would be nearing a point of agreement to move away from our roots, but she’s really warming up to the idea. I’m just simply tired of living around the heavy entitlement and victim mentalities. I think I’m ready to move my wife and kids to a predominately white, conservative rural State. Is anyone else here having similar contemplations?

Frick no. Every major US city is one flashpoint away from millions in damage.

Stick your head out my door and it’s the sounds of crickets, the wild turkey down in the forest that has recently been heard, geese that land occasionally on the pond that i treat with feed when they arrive, 150 acres of family land to ride my UTV on with much more surrounding because of friendly neighbors that are like family, gigabit fiber internet right to the home in a short time, and no cancel culture or soy in sight.

If someone moves from up north, they can live here, in a house, with property, That they OWN, for the same or LESS than apartment rent in the urban north.

Frick no I’m not leaving.

I have thought about it seriously and actually tried pretty hard to do so. I balked at the one job offer I had, though. My desire to leave has little to do with politics and more to do with the weather, and that I wanted to try living where I could see mountains and break myself out of my comfort zone. I feel like I’m a little too comfortable in BR and that I may need to get out to break toxic behavior patterns and mature emotionally.

I'm originally from Shelbyville, Tennessee and would rather move back there instead of living here in the progressive state of Washington.

I loved my black friends there and everyone got along just fine. You couldn't explain this to the liberals here. They think lynchings still go on.

HAMPDEN, Mass. (WWLP) – Four teenagers were riding around on one of their parents’ property Monday when environmental police showed up and handed out citations.

Each teen was hit with a $250 fine for operating an unregistered recreation vehicle and a $500 for operation of a recreation vehicle without a safety certification

I’m from a smaller town than that, very agricultural and rural, about 50/50 black/white ratio. I have black friends too but the bottom line is all this rioting has shown me that as a whole they don’t want racial harmony. My kids have teachers and principals and coaches whom they love and respect on social media doing all that black is good and white is bad stuff and I’m just tired of living around that mindset.

I know. I think Mormons would be a fair trade off. Not liberals.

If you convert or pretend to they will be great neighbors...if you don't they will act as if you do not exist for the most part. They will of course bug the shite out of you to convert and they ain't like the ones in the south who knock on the door once and politely go away...they are far more aggressive when they come to the door...almost to the point of making it uncomfortable to send them away and they have an air about them that kind of insinuates that you have made a mistake by doing so...like that feeling you get when you watch Tony Soprano and company ask for protection money from someone...its no problem just something yo have to put up with....if you have kids in school though it is a BIG deal for them because they will be an outsider and will be inundated with people trying to convert them and if they do not convert they will be completely shunned...I like to be ignored by my neighbors...nothing makes me happier than never speaking to another human being...but it can be difficult on kids.

I live in the PNW in an area that is about 95% white, 4% Hispanic and 1% mixed among Asians, black people and native americans. Very conservative area....at least as conservative as anywhere in the south I have lived. The down side to all of these white folks is that they all act like white folks....when we are in the south we do not act like these white folks....these are by far the most entitled, narcissistic people I have ever been around...seriously....they are convinced that they are the chosen people because nothing in their experience has ever indicated otherwise. Driving for instance....speeding is the norm in the south....here it is a demand...because, as white people, the police are their to protect them from people who aren't like them and to serve them, not write speeding tickets...so EVERY red light is a drag race and a horn blowing session...EVERY time. When they merge onto the freeway they fully expect traffic to yield to them....and if you are merging into traffic and someone is behind you....just the 2 of you....they will immediately cross the solid white line to get in the passing lane so they can try to get around you....no matter how fast you are driving...I tease them into it to see....seriously...120 MPH isn't enough sometimes. They will step off the sidewalk into traffic without fear because nothing untoward has ever happened to them in their life...they are everything that is bad about people the world over and are arrogant about it on top of it....

On top of this I would think twice about leaving the south....seriously, winter in the PNW lasts 10-11 months a year. I live in what is called a banana belt where the mountains keep the weather "mild" as they call it....it isn't a place where bananas would stay on the store shelves without frost problems let alone grow....so yesterday was 14 June, right? High temp for the day? 60 degrees....for about 20 minutes if that...and the wind blew about 30 MPH all day and from every direction....and it never changes.....except when it gets cold in early October and stays that way until May...and by cold I mean single digits at nights and most days never above freezing. Doesn't snow a lot where I am because the area only gets about 5 inches of rain a year....but it is almost always cold and windy....30 MPH is about the norm...and then, for about 3 weeks, summer will set in and it will be 110 during the day and 100 at night....with the ever present wind....and then it will get cold again. There is no spring or fall....just 46 weeks of hard winter and 6 weeks of brutal summer..

I am doing everything in my power to get back to the south....even with the warts and blemishes Augusta, Ga is as good a place to live as anywhere on the planet I have lived...or Atlanta, or Jacksonville, or anywhere in the SE other than South Carolina.....

LOL. I have no words for that. I don’t know how you can let it get so out of control that someone can come on to YOUR private property and had out $1,500 in tickets for riding an off road vehicle.

And they have the audacity to call my state backwards.

I can’t speak for him, but here’s what I can tell you. My family goes back generations here, too. Athens-Clarke county is SOLID blue. Oconee county, one of the smaller, more conservative counties adjacent to it (also very wealthy and with a top-ranked public school system) is beginning to turn that way. Academics who work at UGA have decided they don’t want to live in Athens and bring their liberal BS to rural Oconee. They’re the ones who want to support BLM by day, but won’t show up in a black neighborhood after dark. And it spreads from there. And we’ve got so many institutions of higher ed all over the place that put out graduates the likes of which are now running around and burning down Wendy’s. You should see the social media accounts of people here, even in rural areas. The mindset is quickly shifting and this isn’t going to change. Over the years, it has gotten progressively worse. If the Hispanic population does not adopt conservatism, I’d say Georgia is easily purple by 2035, perhaps sooner. We poke fun at Stacey Abrams, but a lot of folks don’t realize just how much support she really had here. Kemp only won 50.2 to 48.8. Think about that.

Only way to stay in Georgia and get away from it is to go super rural and even that will erode eventually. And the scenery in most of those places sucks.

So basically, you think the black folks in your area are feeling entitled right now. Maybe protesting more than you like? I'm not judging you. I'm just making an observation, trying to understand what is upsetting you so much that you want to move from a conservative state to a more conservative place, if here is one out there.

I live in Carroll County Georgia. Mostly rural though it's in the greater metro Atlanta region. It also has a good lot of "progressive" residents due mostly to The University of West Georgia and the businesses fostered by college town, and also due to Southwire, one of the world's leading producers of wire and cable, and the sprawling presence of Tanner Medical Center.

I think there was one tame gathering a couple weeks ago, but out and about in town when I have to be, there is no contentious discord. As an example, in Home Depot yesterday to buy paint, it was business as usual for black and white employees and patrons. Same interaction as ever. The black manager was nice as he always is. Gave me a 20% discount, since HD corp isn't doing the usual July 4th sales this year, due to the fact they encouraging online and phone sales due to to CV19.

I haven't been into Atlanta the last few weeks, and hope not to have to very soon, but we're fine out here. I'll stay.

You won’t get away from the black victim mentality in the rural areas you’re describing - trust me.
