Well, the guy in charge has been interviewed and said that's exactly what happened. Said that from now on two people will be in charge to avoid a repetition.
It was interesting that Trump couldn't be bothered to interrupt his golf game to issue a reassuring message.

ding ding ding...... #5 for the win !!!
5) Some rogue and malicious actors are in control from the inside and are trying to frick with Trump. Obama's minions, Soros, and McCuckster up to no good.
its absolutely some SJW trying to start shite they think makes trump look bad, most likely hoping he reacts to it so they can say "see he trying to start a nuclear war over nothing, unfit for office, article 25 BS"

It wasn't a drill, the THIS IS NOT A DRILL part makes the whole thing fishy imo
You don't use that line if it was a true drill.

What if they just launched something to the ocean east of Japan and we misjudged the trajectory?
If they launched anything in that timeframe it would have been reported, as many entities around the world are able to track that

Pretty easy.
They were doing a drill. The drill apparently required a full simulation, but it was not supposed to go "live."
As others have pointed out, there was probably several levels of command authority for various steps, but it's possible they thought they were offline when they weren't. It happens.
Y'all are giving government workers and volunteers too much credit.
On a Saturday morning? Why would they drill something like this, on Saturday morning? 8-9 a.m.
Their drilling Is announced prior as was reported yesterday.
Why the length to send a correction if that’s the case?

Bump.
The state of Hawaii has declared that the employee who accidentally announced the beginning of Thermonuclear War has not been fired for her accidental mistake but has been "reassigned" instead.
I'm glad that the state of Hawaii was able to be magnanimous enough to be kind to this humble state employee who almost started World War III.
PS If the humble state employee had ACTUALLY triggered Thermonuclear War with her innocent error, would she have THEN been fired? Probably not.

The Hawaii Emergency Mgmt agency is run by state govt employees of the most liberal Leftist state in the Union.
I find the "incompetence explanation" totally believable.

I was thinking about this yesterday. Not so much why it was done, but how. Hit the wrong button? WTF? Shouldn't you have to click on it, then verify "Do you want to send this message? YES or CANCEL MESSAGE".
Then, once it was sent, it took over a half hour for these idiots to send out another message telling people that it was a mistake. A HALF HOUR! WTF?
Did they not realize they had sent the message? Did they not get a call from their bosses, coworkers, family or friends saying, "WTF is going on? Is there a missile headed our way?"
Why did it take so long to send out a second message to correct the mistake?

People wonder why we think news is fake....because the avg low intelligent human knows that is a dumb arse excuse and no one on the Sunday shows challenged it.
Simple questions...any employee can send out a state emergency alert of any kind?
Is it really just ‘hitting a button’?
Does someone review and correct if it goes wrong?
Why would it take that long for a correction?
I mean the media went softball on those idiots in Hawaii....you have to ask yourself - wtf?
Somehow it was a Trumps fault?
Since the media won’t ask common sense questions, Trump will have to do it in a tweet.

Would it really be shocking to discover that State system doesn’t have many safe guards and easily open to human mistakes. Most of you don’t think the government can fix a pot hole but yet have some Triple red isn’t fail safe program for their EAS system.
