We recently interviewed and offered someone work who ultimately declined. Caught word through the grapevine that the person was enjoying the time off and happy to roll with the inflated unemployment benefits for as long as possible.

Vocal prog and covid alarmist, risk of infection was the excuse given.

Big mistake. When this is over the good jobs will be taken and they are only going to be left further behind. Then they will call those of us that are working privileged.

how dare you offer employment with a reasonable wage and benefits that would help that persons family through this terrible time

i dont know how you can live with yourself offering stability to someone during this time of economic turbulence

Do you have assurances in place to identify ill people and prevent transmission?

Also, hearing from a friend is a lousy way to get info.

It will be interesting to see how low skill, high demand jobs such as those in the service and retail industries deal with the influx of applications when this is over. The local Academy isn’t used to getting 1k applications for every open position

No. I honestly don’t know any lower-income people. Not trying to be snobby, just the reality of working at a corporation.

Not directly but some friends on Facebook have either lost their job or are worried about losing their job and they’re getting lots of responses from people saying their making more off unemployment.

Not saying it isn't true, but could there be a chance the person simply didn't like the offer?

Was being "prog" really the reason given or are you just adding your own flair to it for the purpose of entertaining this board's echo chamber?

State governments will be heavily involved in get back to work initiatives, entire programs will be dedicated to managing the influx of applicants

Yes

In fact, what the OP is talking about constitutes benefit fraud. One of the many reasons his story is suspicious.

I'm applying but I'm not in a rush to accept some shite job because this fake pandemic ruined the industry I was in. Sorry not sorry. I have paid more in taxes than most since I dont have dependents. Even without the $600 I'm not in a rush.

Also I havent recieved any EU in the 3 weeks I have been laid off. Texas dragging their feet
