no he's just being antagonistic to troll and feel like he's above the fray
it's why he's not really committing to discussing his beliefs and how they conflict, b/c it will just make him another Jordan Peterson

All those people you listed are idiots. You have to read Steve Sailer if you really want the truth.

it's not that complicated if you don't require intellectual purity
you're making the same arguments from the left that calls them all white nationalists. like literally the same arguments

sure. i haven't listened to anything new from him in a long time, either. doesn't take away from his core message
nobody is perfect. there are no heroes. and if you expect ideological purity you better be an anarchist or an authoritarian
and the best "IDW" member is still Gad Saad, who hasn't sold out, is still on message, and is an intellectual

I generally understand the OP's point with a caveat.
How exactly does this really differentiate them from virtually any other opinion meisters out there who are making a buck?
My attitude is simple. I don't worry about the theoretical motivations of a speaker I don't know personanlly.
I simply assess whether or not that stated opinions are ones that I'm on board with.

he's worried about the rise of the right in response to the insane left. his goal isn't to fight cultural Marxism, it's to stop you from fighting cultural Marxism
He's said he's alarmed by fringe right and, that he thinks that what's driving it is the fringe left such as the cultural marxists. Hence, by definition, he opposes cultural marxism also.

I simply listen to ideas and decided if I like them or not.
If I like 70% of a person's ideas, I don't let the fact that I don't like 30% of them affect my feelings about the 70%.
I'm not making any attempt at mind reading because it's futile.

Aside from your trolling, this is a misrepresentation of what he has said on this subject. He's concerned about the rise of the two extremes fueled by the left's pumping of extreme ID politics (inter-sectionalism). You have a certain, trolly orthodoxy.

Even if he's said some crazy things, I think Peterson says a lot that has value and a lot that speaks to people in a very positive way. I understand, and even agree with you, that his politics, at least as I have gleaned, lean too far left for my taste. However, I also fundamentally agree with him that the answers to the suffering and injustice and horrors in our world are not political or collective but individual. These are things I've always believed, but he's able to articulate them in ways that I've found extremely helpful and thought provoking. So, in that instance, his politics don't matter a bit.
None of the other individuals in the "Intellectual Dark Web" have had nearly the affect on me as Peterson, and maybe that's just because he points down a road I was already trying to walk. I do think trying to label him as a "huckster" or "charlatan" is incorrect.
quote:
and Peterson has flat out said what he's doing that i don't like, and i think it was the mask slipping off. he's worried about the rise of the right in response to the insane left. his goal isn't to fight cultural Marxism, it's to stop you from fighting cultural Marxism. and i think that's deceptive.
And this is just a flat out mis-characterization of Peterson's position. He's not worried about the "rise of the right", he's worried about the "rise of the far right", ie where the real stinking Nazi's come from. And if you listened to him as much as you say you did you'd know he's spent years obsessing over the rise of Nazism and Communism and how did that lead to millions upon millions of deaths. He's determined that his answer is that the individual was the primary tipping point. For better or worse that's his thesis. Disagree with it all you like, but don't try to claim that he's hiding what he's doing or why he's doing it.
