SPLC NUMBERS FOR THE FEAR MONGERERS
Those 5-8k are really doing some damage!

The KKK today The number of hate groups in the U.S. rose for a second straight year in 2016, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. "The radical right was energized by the candidacy of Donald Trump," the SPLC said in a February 2017 news release.
The Ku Klux Klan is the oldest American hate group, and while the number of active KKK chapters declined in 2016, members of the Klan are trying to regain ground. The SPLC estimates there are between 5,000 and 8,000 Klan members nationwide, split between many factions.

The standard tactic is to pretend there are only about 3 Antifa members, declare American neo-nazism the next great scourge to wash across the earth, and snarkily accuse everyone of melting for 10+ pages.

I think a significant number of the counter-protesters were misled to believe or just falsely believed that the free speech demonstrators were White Nationalists/Nazis. The free-speechers probably should have postponed due to Charlottesville, because that noise was going to drown them out.

No man. They were all literally protesting against free speech.
Naming that rally the "free speech rally" was pretty brilliant by the organizers, I'll give them that.

Also, how many members does Antifa have?
We're letting Anarchy win. We've basically given the green light for people to destroy whatever they don't like and assault anyone whose opinions don't agree with your own. In most places this is actually called Fascism.

So, your entire problem is that a group of people exercised their right to counter protest a "free speech" rally? Sweet.
What is going on?
Also, how many members does Antifa have?

Oh they're mostly sheep for sure, most of these degenerates don't have two brain cells to rub together to form an independent though. Once they realized there weren't any "Nazis" they quickly turned on the police, funny how that worked out.

well they were
idiots protesting against a free speech rally also believing it was a WS rally just proves again that they're idiots

pretty sure it was a free speech rally

No.

did they secure the proper permits?
and 40k people showed up to protest a free speech rally of about 20 people

Also, how many members does Antifa have?
i'd imagine similar numbers to legit WS (50-100k nationwide)
both are very small groups whose message is amplified due to the media giving them platforms

the original rally or the "counter protesters"?
Posted on 8/22/17 at 8:50 am to DisplacedBuckeye
If you can't see how retarded counter protesting a free speech rally is I can't help you.

The It's Going Down website, which received around 300 hits daily in 2015, now garners between 10-20,000 hits a day. Since the events in Charlottesville on Saturday, the It's Going Down Twitter handle has gained 2,000 new followers. While interest may have spiked since Mr Trump's election, it is all but impossible to quantify how many people are active members of Antifa. Much like the far-right, chapters of Antifa are loosely connected and highly secretive, and organise mostly on message boards such as Reddit and over social networks like Twitter and Facebook.

That's irrelevant to the point at hand.
They were idiots, to be sure. That doesn't mean there was a "march against free speech." They thought they were there to protest Nazis or some such nonsense. Again, that makes them idiots, but it doesn't show what he asserted.

Indeed.

both?
the vast majority of that counter protest was most assuredly just a "counter voice" to the free speech rally
I'm sure a few would have tried to turn to violence if they were allowed near the "free speech rally"
my whole point is that hyperbole abounds on all sides, and if you argue against the hyperbole, people immediately accuse you of defending that side
its ridiculous

I've already said they were idiots. That doesn't mean they were "marching against free speech." I find it more than a little amusing that you're cool with one "side" here, but not the other.

well the permit question is not
if you don't secure the proper permits, you do NOT have a right to march

and they ended up protesting a free speech rally
it just shows they're idiots twice over. they can't escape actual reality, though
the "counter protests" in Charlottesville were also marches against free speech
