This was after a video got posted of some dude getting his arse beat and just sitting there because he believed he shouldn't hit back. Which I said was fine. I just wanted to know the reasons for it. It turned into a decent discussion but some people can't handle actually flushing out the rationale for their firmly held positions. Hence, the thread got whacked.
A lot of people (like wolfhound for instance) have no idea why they cling to strongly to certain ideas. They just know that they do. There's a reason he didn't explain himself aside from saying that he was "raised right". Which obviously isn't a supporting statement for his premise.
Saint on the other hand is just confused. I'll give him a pass.

I don't think it's right to hit anyone if they are not being aggressive to you. That said, if they are then you have every right to defend yourself. I don't buy into the "I have special rights...I have a vagina" bit. You wanted equality? Here...have some. Just my opinion. Others may feel differently.

Yeah the ninja mask wearing dude in the bckground is hitting the air. It is why I asked where the gif came from. Someone told me the OP video I watched it twice and only saw the girl once and she was not fighting.

Exactly. I don't think you're a woman-beating monster for believing that you shouldn't be required to subject yourself to physical violence just because the perpetrator has been subjectively deemed not capable of "hurting you that badly."
You can't often say that though. You'll be told how you're supposed to react in certain situations. You'll be told of special rules and certain actions that are and are not appropriate. If you ask why, you'll be castigated and never actually given an answer.
