Correct. They don’t have principles either. My first thought with that video was “Why is no one standing up for this man?” I’d like to think I’d do that. I can’t be 100% sure, but I’m pretty sure I would. I saw two atrocities in China and the only reason I didn’t do anything there is because even if the Chinese agreed with me that these people were horrific that I was the Westerner and the enemy and they’d defend these evil people over me and beat me within an inch of my life for daring to swing at one of their own countrymen. It’s really the only thought that prevented me from directly interfering (went to the authorities both times to report it) so if I thought I had some New Yorkers behind me agreeing with me instead of a direct threat to my life that I would have done something about this.

I once witnessed a guy beating the hell out of his gf in NOLA. He was built like Demario Davis.

I called 911. If I had intervened physically, he would have murdered me (probably literally). There were no other people around to help me detain him.

Yeah I could ALMOST excuse the building security's reaction, except for two things:

1) Not doing their jobs
2) Closing the door, even after the perp walked away. No excuse to not help her at that point.

It was my second to last day in China where I saw that last incident. 3 Westerners and I locked eyes just horrified what happened. All the Chinese people around us stopped for a single second, looked at what that evil father was doing, and then carried on as if it was straight out of the Truman Show. Us Westerners stood stunned looking back and forth from one another for a good minute, but we all knew there was nothing we could do or else we may very well get killed by the mob. They’d pay attention to a white guy or a couple of white guys beating up one of their countrymen no matter how foul he was. Mall security saw it, I then went to them and asked them if they were going to apprehend him to hand over to the police, and they said what a man does with his family was his business. Being on a plane two days after that, it was a good riddance moment for me.
