Seems perfectly reasonable.

What would that look like? I don't know how secure the Department of Education is. Asking seriously
Ok, what about your local courthouse. If the school was that secure, would this happen?

More armed GUARDS could fit that bill, no?
It could. I do worry about the ROE those guards would have, but I also understand that any solution will have its drawbacks.

Yes, seems like something everyone could get behind. Helps protect the children without hurting law-abiding citizens.

I'm in favor of metal detectors and security at schools. Would it prevent this kind of thing? I'm not sure, but it can't be any worse than the status quo.

Some of my very best friends are liberal and none are "insane" or "anti-2A". They do have very different views than me. But, I am not so sure either of us have a monopoly of what is correct. I am willing to hear the other "side" and understand that my friend is as smart and as honest as I am..yet, we disagree.
We clearly run in different circles.

If you start a conversation with, "listen to me because your inaction is the cause of murder", I'm probably going to reply with "frick you".

It is difficult to separate school shootings from mass shootings altogether. I'd be happy if we addressed at least one of them, but the solutions to mass shootings in public become a bit murkier.

Everyone can agree that a school can be built and operated that is completely safe from this type of incident. This is the solution.
Some will say it’s too expensive and we should instead ban a small subset of weapons. These are the ones with an agenda they are pushing and are dishonest..
Some will say that it’s too expensive and we should ban and collect all guns. These are the ones who are honest and also live in lalaland.

The folks wanting gun RESTRICTIONS (I acknowledge it isn't repeal of 2A for but a very few nuts) SHOULD have to work hard for it.
While we have all agreed that regulations and restrictions should be implemented.
However, any restriction and/or regulation is technically a violation of the Constitution as any restriction or regulation is an infringement.

I didn't realize he was the Trump shirt wearing dad who lost a daughter at Parkland.
I thought he was a random Secret Service guy from DC who just wanted to chime in

Allow everyone to bring a weapon to school if they so choose. Are you suggesting gun violence would go down if that was the case?
Not the children, but any teachers that get a CCP and spend at least two hours per month at the range.
There's a reason you don't see people routinely trying to shoot up police stations or gun shows.

The folks wanting gun RESTRICTIONS SHOULD have to work hard for it. It SHOULD be difficult and the ones that currently have the "right" should fight vehemently to keep them. I am for "progress"...but, I want it methodical, slow, painful, and with struggle.
Perfectly said BHP. We need not bow down to the tyranny of extreme emotionalism.

2) we have each had our turns to say "frick you" tp one another
1) My friends generally do NOT start out with that type of opening salvo.

Shootings at gun shows aren't very common, but shootings at police stations are a regular occurrence.

Was he the guy that went off saying "we need to fix the schools. Gun laws can be debated later"?
Yes and he was the guy that the liberal twitter users attacked the day his daughter was murdered saying it was karma because he had on a Trump 2020 shirt while looking for his daughter.
