Since that doesn't apply to everyone I of course disagree except to the fact that freedom of food choices is paramount to health and happiness

I do agree red meat is not all that great. But frick a plant based diet.

I usually eat 5-7 pounds of chicken or turkey a week.

Occasionally will add in lean ground beef once or twice a week

It's an off week if I don't eat around 7 pounds of red meat.

Kamala Harris and the squad said they would end the beef industry.

Biden said he would end fossil fuels.

Prices for these things went up.

I mean if you eat processed chicken or fried chicken it is just as bad as eating processed red meat. Its about that sodium content, which chicken can be injected with and usually is as a preservative.

I eat red meat daily, chicken gets old. No high blood pressure here.

I would understand the confusion on from the liberals but I think most others would understand the additional comparison of issues

When I can no longer afford beef I’ll buy cows and put them on my catfish ponds

I won’t stop eating it

Glad I just bought a side of beef from a local rancher! $7.50/lb for American Wagyu! Filets, NY strip, ribeyes, hamburger, roasts, brisket, etc.

This crisis appears to be more than a natural downturn. The economic strain ranchers face suggests a deliberate push toward more expensive beef, discouraging Americans from maintaining their traditional meat-heavy diets

If we look deep under the hood, I wonder how much of this is due to the nonsensical fight against "climate change."

I eat steak 2-3 times per week. I cooked a prime strip last night. The price would have to be $100/lb. for me to back off.

I buy whole subprimals, age for @60 days, cut steaks, and vacuum seal.

Right now prime ribeye is @18 a pound at Sams. I’m buying that and a strip after Christmas.

Feed costs should be easing on ranchers. The catfish industry is seeing a similar downturn as cattle. Recent high feed costs and lower demand due to the economy is leading to a reduction in acreage. We project fish shortage and high prices by June. I’m looking at expanding my operation by 100 or so acres to take advantage. I have about 250 acres that’s not being used currently and I can rework some to put back into production.

Economic repercussions take a couple years to really show. You’re seeing now the results of inflation in 2022 that was caused by Covid hysteria and stimulus policy in 2020. 2025 will be a restructuring year, as some people in industries will close, but those who survive will do well and industries will expand in 2026. Especially with Trump economic policies

Row crop farmers are the ones really hurting. 2024 was a bad year and next year looks worse, but low grain prices mean low feed prices for all meat producers

This, went from running 11 cows on 33 acres to 7 three years back. Have some friends and mostly relatives that think they raise cattle. You raise grass and adjust your herd as necessary to manage it.

One rowcrop farmer in Belzoni just fenced in his fields and planted grass and bought a huge herd of cows. Crops are worthless so guess he figured cows would be more profitable. You never see cows in the delta it’s unusual every time I drive by it. May be a good idea, not like we don’t have water here so no shortage of grass
