"Automation" is one thing I rarely seen brought up in economic discussion on here.

"All of the good factory jobs have been shipped overseas" is a good populist talking point, but it's not the main driver in declining factory jobs in America.

Not sold on UBI and not necessarily a fan of the concept, but in a lot of the futurist podcasts I listen to, they say that ultimately "taxing the robot owners" (automation) and redistributing it to the citizenry will supposedly be mankind's salvation. That's way above my pay grade and I would never make a prediction personally, however.

That is a big pile of cattle shite.

Far too much of our manufacturing is done overseas and it puts us at strategic risk. Just where the WEF/NWO (Democrats and GOPe) want us.

I second that motion.....we are WAY too dependent of goods from places OTHER than the USA! And TRUMP was on the way to stopping that.

The EPA has sent most manufacturing jobs overseas. For instance, petroleum coke calcining is one of the dirtiest manufacturing processes out there. The EPA has made it nearly impossible to do this in the United States due to air pollutants. However, this shite is moved to China and and they have 0 regulations on the environment over there. All the shite is still going into the environment/ ozone layer, etc, we just shipped it overseas and cost thousands of jobs along the way.

This is what pisses me off. If there truly is a climate crisis due to pollution then why don’t we stop buying Chinese shite until they clean up their pollution? Pollution affects the entire world it makes no difference on the environment where the pollution occurs. We should either hold China accountable or just make the stuff here if the pollution is unavoidable. No sense selling our country out. We could cut epa regulations in half to be more business friendly and still be way cleaner than China. Let them go back to being poor rice farmers

Yup. It's just another way to redistribute wealth from the productive to the unproductive.

Unions started automation and the worker that has been lead to believe that the employer owes them far more than the skill set is worth have cemented it as part of our landscape. We are seeing it coming to simple jobs like McDonalds and Burger King now for the same reasons.

taxing the robot owners

They leave the part out where only governments and giant multinational corporations working hand in hand with governments will own all the robots.

Their "saving grace" is still UBI. UBI is serfdom.

The problem is we as a nation have to be willing to pay more for goods that come from America (or the Americas)
