Construction on the $200 million facility will start in the fall of 2021 and is expected to be complete by September of 2022. The center will bring about 800 construction jobs and 1,000 full-time jobs with benefits to the city. Starting pay for these full-time jobs is $15 per hour.

The facility in Shreveport will be the largest of seven operating Amazon facilities.

Imagine thinking a fulfillment center is a huge economic win.

14 of those centers in Texas. You dont turn down businesses investing in your state or the jobs that go with it unless you are an AOC supporter.

Shrevehole has been dying for 30 years, increasingly propped up by state and federal tax dollars.

Fulfillment centers have neutral to small negative effects on the local economy.

These are just big buildings that receive and hold Goods made elsewhere, usually China, to be delivered to our homes after we patronize online storefronts, rather than our local ones, and after we have delivered money to some far-off person/ entity. And it is all with minimal need for local resources / labor. That sounds like a giant vacuum cleaner to me
