No, I’m pretty sure that’s not at all what I’m saying.

That is 10, out of the 27 most deadly shootings since 1949, in the past 5 years. If you don’t consider that a problem I don’t know what to say.
You *could* show how that is somehow significant relative to all the other things they could kill me at any given time. Except, I already know it has none.

You don’t have enough data to show a trend. Even if you did... doubling or tripling an insignificant number (by 3-4 orders of magnitude) isn’t something to worry about.

There isn’t much left to say. You have no idea what you’re talking about. It’s all muh feels because you don’t understand the reality. Classic Dunning-Krueger.

you may be onto something. Way more people die from bare fists than rifles

Can you post any statistics to support this assertion that we are in the middle of an "epidemic"? Or are gun related crime levels pretty much where they always are? Honest question

If you take out gang/drug related crimes, and suicides, then gun related crime is statically insignificant. In fact, outside of those criminal enterprises, the US is one of the safest nations on earth.

If you want to look at just mass shootings (actual mass shootings) then more people die every week from drunk driving than all year long from mass shootings, but I don’t see any politicians clamoring to re-enact the 18th Amendment.

Until the media, politicians, and Twitter trolls stop using this as a tool to spread hatred and division it will never end.

These people get horny over this shite.

They thrive on it. And then their hatred fuels the hatred of the soi boi incels who want their 15 minutes of Fame.

Never ending, increasing frequency, cycle.

Tha fuq dude. I think there are probably some things we could try short of that before we take that plunge. Like how about turning the internet off? And I dont mean at your house, I mean the main switch at the internet hq. Make America Small Again.

We are a nation of former slaves and immigrants from all over the world, the tired, poor, huddled, and wretched. Toss in the most guns per capita and the result is unsurprising.

I doubt much can be done.

It’s not about it’s prevalence next to other things that kill you. All other causes of deaths that can occur that are within the scope of human alteration should be altered to be as safe as possible. We are in a mass-shooting epidemic, because 10 of the 27 most deadly mass shootings in history happened in the last 5 years, which means that a large number of deadly mass-shootings have happened in a short period of time. That stat couldn’t give two shites about death by car or any of the other things you are about to tell me I am more likely to die by.

I think we are seeing the culmination of 20+ years of decline. Technology has altered our society in ways we are only starting to become aware of.

When I was in my late teens/early twenties, we didn't have cell phones, the internet or social media. PC's were just beginning to make inroads into business. If you wanted to take photo's or video, it was much more expensive and the barriers to entry were high.

Technology has changed us. I'm not in any way advocating we go back to doing math on an abacus, but I think if we're going to make things better, we have to begin by acknowledging there is a problem.

Technology is breading loners at a much greater pace than in the past. It is causing kids to grow up without deep personal interactions. When we don't really care about the person next to us, it's easier to pull the trigger.

We have too many people growing up without coping mechanisms and personal relationships that give value to our lives.

I have no idea what the answer is, but I think I see the problem.

May I adopt this as my own position, sir? It's not the guns Im afraid of, it the person who has screwed up designs to use them for their horrifying goals. If striking fear in the heart of folks is a goal, or using fear to forward an ideology is a gial, well there's lots of ways to do that if they dont have a gun. In the most unsuspecting of situations how about catching people off guard by slitting throats with a knife, or dropping an axe between peoples' eyes, or the box truck/vehicle in a crowd. A rash of any of those would cause fear and gain notoriety.

It's the individual that needs to be addressed. How, I dunno. I do wish we could go backwards to 80s era with internet and communications technology. That's crazy talk, but I blame those things first and foremost.

Ffs another one in Ohio. This country is really not in a great place politically and culturally right now.

And before people attack me I’m talking about political tension, not who is in office.

So why are you "worried"...if it is inevitable then it is part of life. And reality. The odds of it effecting you are more than getting hit by a space meteor and far less than dying by a snake bite in America. Or worrying yourself to death.

Their is no such thing as "gun Violence". Same as there is no kitchen knife violence or baseball bat violence. The odds of getting cut or hit by a bat are more than getting shot btw. There are violent people. These days worrying about those violent people is very real so people avoid some of the more violent parts of most towns. And keep their doors locked. The wiser of us support the people at the borders keeping as many of the violent as well as those who will turn to violent gangs out. Worry about the proliferation of a part of our society who support the inherent violence in exchange for gaining voters. That's very real in your every day life.

So we should continue to let some of the most deadly attacks in the last 3/4 century happen at an alarming rate just because it’s human nature? Sorry but I’m in the camp that if lives can be saved, we should try to save them. Which is why I said I didn’t know what the solution would be.

The solution is for ordinary Americans to take their second amendment rights seriously so there are enough good guys with guns around to stop these things in their tracks.

This has always been the solution.

And yet in one of the most pro second amendment states this still happened. So either, the people at that Walmart didn’t have guns, they weren’t brave enough, or it’s harder to get the courage to shoot someone than you make it out to be.

The mental healthcare system in this country used to work.

At worst, reforming mental health and bringing back the insane asylums will make a dent in the homeless population.

It will probably stop some of this shite, too. Adam Lanza should have been committed. Instead, he was just dubbed "special needs" and his single mom encouraged his "gun hobby". In the 1950s, that dude would have been medicated and chilling in an asylum.

El Paso may be physically located in Texas, but that's about it. 80% Hispanic. 2016 results: Hillary 69%, Trump 26%, Other 5%

There's a reason antifa picked that as their chosen site in Texas for throwing a tantrum.
