New research published in Group Processes & Intergroup Relations provides evidence that political ideology is one of the most important factors when it comes to predicting distrust of climate science among Americans. The findings indicate that ideology even trumps partisan identification, suggesting that people are not simply parroting the views of their preferred political leaders.

“There are two main reasons why I am interested in this topic,” said study author Flavio Azevedo, a senior researcher at the Department of Communication of the Jena University in Germany. “The first has to do with the urgency to understand the roots of the exceptional wave of anti-intellectualism and support for politics overriding scientific advice and recommendation on the basis of ideological commitments.”

“The unwarranted denial of science — irrespective of whether it regards social distancing and preventive infection measures during a pandemic, hesitancy towards vaccination, or supporting candidates impeding climate change legislation — is profoundly detrimental to public health, the environment, and the economy as recent events have shown in the United States but also in other countries such as the Netherlands and the United Kingdom,” Azevedo continued.

I’ve always thought it was funny that climate change alarmists absolutely refuse to look at the science.

Oh they’ll tell you all about a micro fraction of the data that supports their hysteria, but the second you start looking at the whole picture their brains shut down.

I’m thinking I’m fine with being dumb vs trusting/following those currently in power.

Their track record with regards to doing anything that has proven to be truly beneficial to this country’s citizens leaves me feeling content with choosing my idiocy.

The climate has been on a consistent cycle of change since the dawn of mankind. The "warming of the planet" today pales in comparison to that of the ice age and what humans were responsible for that? Cavemen and their camp fires?

I can't take climate change alarmists seriously when they spend half their day on a smart phone (comprised of dozens of finite earth minerals and drains server energy each time its used)... when they fly routinely (in planes that release toxins into the most delicate part of the atmosphere)... and reside in multiple story homes that drain 2 to 5 times the amount of energy as the average US household and not to mention is filled with petroleum based products and multiple forms of technology once again comprised of finite earth minerals and requires energy to operate. You get my point.

Hilarious that someone brought up climate change so early in this thread. Climate change alarmists are equally as dumb as human climate change deniers.

Yes the earth has been hotter than it will be in the next few hundred years before, that doesn't change the fact that human caused climate change is accelerating the process and causing some weather pattern issues that are shitty for humans.

The earth isn't going anywhere, but people that live in certain areas are absolutely gonna be screwed due to the small changes.

Luckily I don't live on the coast or anywhere with fresh water supply issues.

We have these things called computers that you can input data into models and they will show you the result of different atmospheric compositions. The same organization that can drop a robot on Mars makes them. If you think that you know better or that they are part of some big conspiracy then I guess bless your soul.

The author of this article.
[LINK ]

From his bio:

"My research is grounded in the learning and cognitive sciences and it is organized into three intersecting strand the nature of STEM interests and interest-driven participation, learning out of schools, and foundations of cognition and learning in STEM disciplines. Broadly, the construct of interests refers to the diverse ways people engage any given activity, so that pedagogies for interest development can be powerful pedagogies of inclusion. My three research strands are thus conceived to shed light on interest-driven learning across timescales and settings of STEM practice, in- and out-of-schools, as well as the socio-cultural and political contexts of such practices, as means to broadening participation in STEM and to intervening on mechanisms that (re)produce educational and social inequities. This work has appeared in publications such as the Journal of the Learning Sciences, Cognition and Instruction, Science Education, and the Journal of Mathematical Behavior."

Wonder how much he got paid to publish this "research". This guy is as bad a scientist as the ones who prosecuted galileo for heliocentricity. All these political & profit motivated scientists are, they will go down in history as betraying the field and being morons

Fauci's science is what got us here.

Those global warming models are horseshite. They can't even predict weather from the past accurately, they sure as hell won't be right in the future.

Which are only summations of things that could happen, not will happen. When weather is not 100% predictable then that is not a constant fact.

Mars is a constant fact. It does not change on a daily basis like weather so landing a robot on something that is always in the same place every day would have a higher percentage of predictability than weather.

BS
Prove it.

And let's make this depending on truth not the prophesies of a damned Climate Computer Model.

The Mann Hockey stick was so inept that batting scores from the MLB were entered and the stick still emerged. When you create trash....the prophecy is trash.

And that is what you depend on ....nothing but science fairy tails ....the ones they chase day by day.

I'll give you a shining example of why you no where near as smart as you think you are.

1913 Death Valley 133 degrees. Record. 465,000 cars in the US and 650,000 worldwide.

2021 Death Valley 135 degrees. New record .....280 million cars in the US ....millions more in the world.

Critical thinking (a class you missed in school) tells you immediately that 650,000 cars worldwide in 1913 ...does not come close to the level of emissions in 2021 with millions of cars on the road ....We should be melting today ...according to the prophesy.

The science is seriously flawed. Especially when the sciences claimed to be used .....Laugh at the trash from these scientific prostitutes. Whoever has the money ...these whores run to in earnest.

Polar Bear Populations growing.

Coral Reefs recover and expand

Penguin populations discovered driving the number by the millions.

Oceans not rising .....otherwise Guam is under water and not by tipping over either.

One billion more trees on earth than what was estimated ...

Yet the models do not change and the trash from these whores predict nothing but a premature ejaculation at best.

Thats right, they can.

And when you put data in designed to give you a certain result what will you get? Or did you not see the time frame for your link begins in 1880.

Since the last minimum a couple million years ago we’ve had a number of spikes as warm or warmer than now with it cooling back off. Is this another, or is it a more significant trend headed back toward the last maximum in the Eocene about 45 million years ago.

Nobody and mean not one single soul on this planet knows. But if it is a few thousand years from now humans will probably need to move, because man cannot stop or start a warming/cooling trend for the planet.

God help us all if we think we can and are stupid enough to try.

... When they don't go after China.

If the world is going to end in 10 years or what ever the logic is, then we should be going to war with China. If north Korea was intentionally spraying stuff in the atmosphere that will destroy the east coast 10 years from now, we would wipe them off the map.

I spent time in Beijing and Los Angeles in the early 90's. The smog was worse in LA. The pictures you see now of the Great Wall and country side are incredible.
