Alabama's near-total abortion ban legislation -- House Bill 314, the "Human Life Protection Act" -- could be passed into law as soon as Tuesday. If it passes it will be the most restrictive ban on abortion since the Supreme Court decided to legalize and protect the procedure nationwide with its 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling.
"The bill provides no exceptions for rape or incest and classifies the procedure as a Class A felony in the state. That means a doctor caught performing abortions in Alabama would face up to 99 years in prison."

Though it is likely the bill will be passed, it isn't likely it will be successfully implemented before being blocked by a federal judge, as it is in clear violation of Roe v. Wade. If passed, the legislation would likely join a host of other contested laws that anti-abortion activists hope will rise to the Supreme Court and potentially overturn Roe v. Wade. The proposed law flatly rejects the decision, saying "judges and legal scholars have disagreed and dissented with its finding

Either the unborn child is a human being and alive or it isn't. If it is, circumstances around its conception should be irrelevant. If it isn't, the mother should be able to do anything she wants to "it".
Good for Alabama.

Even my rural Alabama Southern Baptist Church supports it in the case of rape or incest

Before Roe v Wade it was practiced in cases of rape, incest, or mother's life in danger. It was not called abortion, there were no special clinics, regular gyno's and family doctors would perform it. It was regarded as a tragic and private ordeal and usually a funeral was held

It's weird that the party that publicly wants to reduce abortions works so hard on policies that have been shown to increase their incidence.
It's almost as if you're all gullible as fuuuuuck.

The plan B pill can be taken within 5 days and costs $50 much cheaper than waiting a month and having an abortion.

Pass what whatever legislation you want affecting >20wks EGA. However, <20wks is a waste of time and energy. It's nothing but a dog-and-pony show. There is no chance this gets thru SCOTUS.

What about if you're so broke you don't have $50 dollars? What if you were a kidnap victim and you were impregnanted by your kidnapper and it took 3 months before you could escape?
