What a great line.

quote:

The former archbishop of Philadelphia commended Attorney General Barr for his strong morals and good faith, days before the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast.

Archbishop Charles J. Chaput praised the nation’s top law enforcement officer for embodying his catholic faith.

“Throughout my life, the men and women I’ve most admired have all had the same qualities: a thinking Catholic brain, a character of substance and a moral spine. Attorney General Barr has all three,” Archbishop Chaput wrote.

“As an added bonus, he’s disliked by all the right people.” he said. “I want to thank the various and interesting critics of General Barr for confirming me in that judgment.”

The American catholic clergy is often suspect, if not downright dubious, these days. Good to see this quote.

Though Chaput led an historically important see and his five immediate predecessors were cardinals, Pope Benedict did not make him a cardinal in his two 2012 consistories, nor did Pope Francis in any of his.[16][17] Pope Francis accepted his resignation on January 23, 2020

So, the Peter Principle says he sucked as an archbishop. Or is that St. Peter Principle

First, well done. That was a good one.

Second, if we take a look at the men assuming power in the American catholic church we will note that ability or even allegiance to church doctrine is not required

We have bishops purchasing million dollar beachfront homes in 2020. The church is in crisis.

Frankly, look at the current Pope. Anyone who believes in the traditional church and so forth is hardly favored by him.

That is more a mark against the current pope than against this archbishop.
